The Art of Avoidance

After the whole theater incident, Chase had been avoiding Brent. There had been a few times that Chase had literally seen him, and decided to go the other way because it would be too awkward. He didn't want to run into him and felt like avoiding him would just be better. It was why Chase was in the forest right now because he didn't think there was any chance of Brent finding him. Even if he did come in the forest, the chance of coming to the same spot Chase was is slim to none.

He had his back up against a tree and was reading one of his favorite books. The Outsiders. He didn't think he would ever get tired of reading this book. It was touching and cute and just wonderful. It made him feel better too. When he didn't feel like having his own life. He'd read a book and put himself as a character. Things were easier to cope that way.

Chase had perhaps been on his mind more than the business studies teacher would care to admit. He felt bad for rejecting him but... what else could he do in that situation? Whatever happened, there was something negative that would occur as a result. That was life for you. Hoping it would solve things, but knowing it wasn't doing any good, Brent had been doing his best to avoid Chase and he was almost certain that the fae had been doing the same. It was probably better that way, as much as Brent didn't like it.

He was back in the forest today, not being as bad as normal with his powers. Brent felt like he was slightly more in control of his pyromania than usual today, which was nice but left him feeling sort of odd at the same time. He just watched the trees burn, blankly staring at the flames he'd created as they devoured all nearby life. For once, it didn't have his full attention.

Chase hadn't been in the forest long before he saw the fire. It wasn't too far away from him, but it peeked his curiosity majorly. Chase got up from where he was and bookmarked his page so he wouldn't lose it before walked toward the fire. He got there in no time.

Unfortunately, where he came out was in a perfect spot for the person lighting the fire to see him. Chase's eyes widened when he saw Brent standing there and his mouth opened before he moved behind a tree quickly, hoping the hybrid hadn't seen him because he did not want to have to deal with what he had been avoiding right now.

Brent stopped feeding the fire when he heard someone approaching, just in case whoever was there decided to go and tell tales on him. He froze completely when he saw that it was Chase, who then attempted to hide behind a tree from him. Okay, Brent decided that he would just go ahead and be the bigger man here. "I'm not stupid. I know you're there, Chase." he called out through gritted teeth. Brent then took a few steps away from the fire he'd made so he wouldn't get burnt - not badly, anyway.

Dammit. Chase swore to himself. It was just his luck that Brent had seen him. He was doing so good at ignoring Brent these past... however many days. Why did he have to ruin it now. Chase moved to peek around the tree. Fear was evident in his face. "I'm s-sorry. I'll... I'll j-just leave." Chase told Brent as he gripped his book tighter in his hand and prepared to make a run for it. That just... seemed like the better option right now if he was honest. Chase didn't like confrontation.

Brent was going to throttle someone or something because Chase's appearance had suddenly made his temper flare and he was struggling to figure out why exactly that had happened. But he didn't want him to leave, or even feel as if he had to. How the hell he was meant to change that, the hybrid wasn't sure. He wasn't in the mood for being nice. He was in the mood for drinking and burning everything but he wasn't able to do either of those things since Chase was here.

H-he was staying? Chase didn't know if he liked that. Nor did he like the emotions that were radiating off of Brent at the moment. He had never got the feeling like he did from Brent at the moment and he didn't like it. He wanted to run away and never come back, he also didn't think it would be a good idea to tell Brent he was still going to leave after he just told him to stay. Chase nodded nervously and tried to keep himself from freaking out.

Chase stepped away from the tree slowly. "I-I don't l-like y-your emotions. M-maybe another time w-would be b-better?"

"I don't like my emotions either but I think we've been avoiding each other for long enough now. It's pathetic and childish." Brent cut straight to the point, not in the mood for fucking about because he didn't like this one bit and Chase clearly didn't either. Therefore, he was sorting it. Even if Brent wasn't going about it in the best of ways. It was better than nothing, wasn't it? Now, hopefully Chase was going to cooperate with him before he got wound up any further.

Why couldn't Chase just stick to avoiding him. He had gotten good at it! One little slip up, sure... that didn't mean anything. He could go back and be more careful. Brent was going to tear his hair out. Because, really? Really? After everything they'd talked about Chase was still afraid that Brent was going to hurt him? "I'm not going to hurt you! Yes, I'm angry but that doesn't mean I'm gonna hurt anyone, does it?" Brent ran a hand through his hair but didn't quite tear it out. He loved it too much to do that. "And, okay, you apologised. That did a fuck load of good didn't it, hm?" he folded his arms over his chest to refrain himself from burning anything. Brent was in control of himself here. He could do this.
