Oh, so this was about Andrew after all. Brilliant. Brent shook his head slightly, clenching his jaw to try and contain the sudden rush of anger he felt towards not only the sorcerer but Cain too for decided to bring it up and going as far as suggesting that Brent should've given Andy detention. No way. "He fucking punched me in the face. I'm sorry if I thought that the best thing to do in order to show him how out of order he was being was to retaliate!" he raised his voice, not caring about how stupid he was being. He couldn't just stand there and not fight back or simply give out a detention!

Cain had already prepared for this scenario. He had several really. Brent chose this one which Cain hated the most. ”Brent, I know your angry. You have every right to be. It was wrong for a student to punch you and normally someone would do what you did.”

”However, you could have done it when there were no students around... Wait, I meant that you could have retaliated in a different manner and at a different time and place. There were students there as well and they talk. They talk Brent. The fear I have is that I may not have gotten everyone who was there in your class who saw the incident. They might talk and at some point it might reach the heads. Brent, as a co-staff of this school, I do not want you to get into trouble because of a student.” Cain added with concern.

Brent didn't care about getting in trouble because he didn't regret a single thing about the scars he'd left Andy with. "Whatever. The little rat deserved everything that he got." he hissed. He slammed down his glass and then folded his arms over his chest, a stormy expression on his face. If there was one person in this shithole of a school that Brent hated more than anyone else, it was definitely Andrew Locke. You did not just go around punching such a beautiful face and not expect to receive anything unpleasant in return. That wasn't how Brent worked.

The statement Brent spoke made Cain want to cut the half-breed's air supply in a blink of an eye. How dare he say such things. Cain had to pretend to sigh to hide his boiling anger. He didn't want to lose it and kill Brent in his office. There were a few people who knew he was going to have afternoon coffee with him so if Brent suddenly turned up dead minus his scales too, it would have been too obvious that Cain had something to do with it.

”Brent please... Calm down and breath. I know Mr. Locke had down you wrong but it is not enough reason to hurt him. I have seen for myself the scars and if I was his family, I would have sued you for physical injuries and endangerment to his person. Not to mention the psychological effect it would have or already has on him. He is a student no matter what and the board will always take his side. You are at a disadvantage whichever way you approach this. All because you had used your powers on him.”

Brent wasn't fully listening to Cain, partly because he was growing to be too irritated to pay any attention to him and partly because he didn't like the small chunks he could hear of what the sorcerer was saying. "I know all that shit! Doesn't mean have I have to care, does it?" Brent raised his voice, throwing his arms out to the sides before huffing loudly and refolding them. This was all Andy's fault - definitely not his own. He hadn't been the one to start anything for once and now he was getting shit for it.

Cain had to pinch his nose in order not to yell back at Brent. The other was being immature and Cain knew it wouldn't help if his temper got the better of him as well. ”It seems like you do not care at all if you lose your job or not... I am just worried for you Brent. You have potential. You can be great. Those students won't get anywhere in life without us leading them. Do you really want to lose your job? Does the school not hold anything worth your attention?”

Deep down, Brent knew how unreasonable and irresponsible he was acting right now but he couldn't help it. Being reminded of the Andy thing not only made him think of how angry he'd been then but of how he'd briefly had a sort of argument with Chase about it. All because that sorcerer couldn't act his age - although that was hypocritical of him to think. 'Those students' and their worthless futures didn't mean anything to the hybrid. He was here for a place to stay, food to eat and the, of course, the money. "I've already said: I. Don't Care. This place means nothing to me." he growled, thinking that was a good enough answer to Cain's enquiries.

Cain raised his hands in mock surrender. He was glad that he had placed his glass down. He sighed as he placed down his hands and turned to Brent, ”May I inquire as to how you will be dealing with this? If ever it does reach the Board?”

Though it was before Cain, the mere thought of hurting a student was something Cain was dead set against. Kids didn't deserve to he beaten, tortured and harmed. It wasn't going to reach the Board, as far as Brent was aware. It couldn't because he was going to make everyone shut up. Even if that would probably only land him in more trouble. Oh well, he could only hope that everything would end up in his favour. Cain was just being a dick right now and he'd been put in no sort of mood to deal with that. "Just keep your nose out of my fuckin' business, 'kay?" he snapped, having had enough of this talk. He knocked the wine off the table just for good measure as he stood up and then stormed towards the door, in a huff.

As far as I remember we weren't even finished with our talk.”
