Brent had a weird sort of feeling about this. He couldn't figure out why Cain would randomly want to see him but didn't dwell over it because there was nothing that he'd done lately for Cain to get bothered about, or at least that was what he believed. There were many things that he'd done in the past that he'd viewed as 'right' and 'necessary' when, in fact, the majority of people disagreed with him.

He wandered along to Cain's office, a little later than the time the sorcerer had said to meet him at but this was Brent and punctuality had never been his forte. The crossbreed knocked on his office door before opening it slightly and peeking his head round. "Hi. Sorry, lost track of time." he flashed a smile. Well, no, that was a lie. Brent was just a slow walker that got distracted far too often which was why he was often late - he honestly hadn't lost track of time.

Cain was busy checking the quiz he had given his students earlier. He wasn't so pleased that half of the class failed despite it being an easy one. He pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed. Then again, it could be worse. Everyone could have failed instead. It was definitely worse so he eradicated the thought immediately. He grabbed his wand and cast a Tempus charm to see what time it was. Brent was late. Very late. But Cain had an idea of how the half breed was like so he wasn't really that surprised.

After a few more minutes, his office door opened and a head peaked in. Brent. Cain smiled politely, ”Brent, come on it. And don't worry about. I was doing some work anyway so it was fine.”

[/b] Cain said as he signaled Brent to have a sit on his couch. ”Would you like anything to drink?” Cain asked as he was piling up the papers that he had yet to check away from the ones that he has already done.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/color]

Work? Work? Brent had sort of forgotten about that which wasn't his fault. It was Chase's. And Robert's for suddenly appearing and making a nuisance of himself. Not to mention having Dan to cope with too. He had people problems, he was allowed to procrastinate get caught up in all that shit from time to time. Anyway, it was a relief to see that Cain didn't appear to be bothered by his lateness. "M'kay." He went in and shut the door behind him, then sat himself down. "Depends what you've got." Brent replied since he was fussy when it came to food and drink.

Cain had heard from a few others how Brent usually gets side track when he was doing things that involved actually work and such. He his smile at Brent, ”Well, I basically have anything you want. Name anything you want and I'll get it for you.”

[/b] Cain said as he pushed his chair out and stood up. He walked to the sitting area and sat on an armchair next to the couch. He was wondering how Brent could just lose his temper at a student. Even is Andrew said Cain didn't need to, Cain had an obligation to warn Brent against using his power on students.

”So, what kind of cake do you like? I have a devil's chocolate, strawberry cake, marble cake, mocha cake, and butter cake. just take your pick.” Cain made mini cakes of them because it fit perfectly in his small refrigerator. Yet he already has expanded it to take in more than it ought to naturally.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/color]

Asking Brent to pick one thing when he'd been offered 'anything' was never a wise thing to do considering how indecisive he was. He felt rude just sitting there, thinking for ages so he cut his thinking time short since he'd gotten part of the way there already. "Something alcoholic, I guess." he shrugged. Way to be specific, McKinney.

The hybrid wasn't that big a cake fan and never had been. He liked very few of them so didn't want to try and force himself into eating one of Cain's cakes when the probability of him disliking it was extremely high. "I'll pass, not hungry." he waved a hand at Cain dismissively. It wasn't exactly a lie since he'd never had a particularly big appetite so was never that hungry at any time of day; apart from when there was curry involved.

Cain smiled still, waiting for the half breed to decide. Seriously? Did it take that long just to think of what he wanted to drink? when Brent had decided, Cain had to tilt his head to one side, alcoholic? Did Brent forget they were in school? Well, since that was what he wanted, Cain simply nodded and waved a bottle of fire whiskey he had bought from London not too long ago. He was curious as to what the taste was so he bought it.

”I just bought this about two weeks ago. It seemed popular with the locals in London so I just had to get one as well.”

[/b] Cain explained as he waved two glasses on the table. The bottle opened itself and poured a nice amount in the glasses then settled down on the table. Cain grabbed his glass and turned to Brent, ”So, how have you been Brent? I don't see you too often here in the staff room.Busy?” Cain asked with a politely smile as he took a sip of his drink. Damn it was good but it was burning his throat as well. No wonder it was called fire whiskey.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/color]

He chose to ignore the look Cain gave him when he asked for something alcoholic. This was Northvale, he thought there were very few teachers that didn't have anything to drink during the day because they needed it. He didn't know what exactly it was that Cain had gotten but it looked good. "Thanks." he dipped his head towards the sorcerer before leaning forward to grab his own glass and taking a sip. He hadn't expected the burning sensation that went down his throat but, if anything, that made it better than it already was. It was a good choice.

Busy? Brent? He very nearly choked on his whiskey but disguised it with a small cough. "Oh, yeah. I guess." he shrugged. To be fair, he kind of had. Just not with what he was supposed to be busy with, as per usual. It wasn't his fault this time though - except it was but not entirely.

Cain smiled and poured himself another glass. He was contemplating whether to come right out or stall for just a few more minutes. He sighed as he downed his drink and decided to be straight. He sat straight, pouring himself a new glass and turned to smiled at Brent. ”Well, actually Brent, there was something I wanted to discuss with you as well. Rest assured its nothing to worry about. However, its a bit alarming because the news might reach the heads and it might not bode well for you.”

Cain said with a reassuring smile. Well, as reassuring as he could possibly show it. There was no way around it since he knew he had to face it since it was towards Andrew that Brent had done wrong. No matter what the reason was.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/color]

Panic flitted across the hybrid's face, clearly readable, before he managed to compose himself but he was still left with a feeling of unease. He couldn't be sure of what exactly Cain was talking about here because Brent cocked up a lot but this was sounding pretty serious. Was it about him and Chase? Or maybe that fight with Andy, even? Although Brent didn't know why Cain would know about the fight because if Andy had gone around blabbing to everyone then Brent was sure that someone would've spoken to him sooner about it. "Well, what is it?" he snapped impatiently, a harshly defensive edge to his voice.

Cain smiled as he shook his head, ”Do not worry Brent. I merely wanted to inquire about the incident with Mr. Locke during your class? Some students were talking about it and I had to reprimand them from saying such horrible things about their professors. I am however concerned that it might reach the ears of the heads and might get you into trouble.”

”Which brings me to the very reason why I wanted to talk to you. Brent, I do not wish for you to get into trouble. The students talk and I lucky enough I managed to cast memory charms on those who actually knew. I just want you to remember that we professors aren't supposed to use our powers on students. No matter what the situation was. You should have just given Mr. Locke a month of detention or community service instead. I hope you see my concern, Brent.” Cain said as he looked at his co-staff with concern in his face but seething anger within.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size][/color]
