The young witch sat, thinking. It had happened again. She'd lost control of her magic. It terrified her. She would have killed Milo if he wasn't a vampire - and what if someone else made her that angry? Someone not so strong. She couldn't kill someone. She just.. couldn't. But, she found herself unable to control the magic that flowed in her veins. She needed to talk to someone about it.. but who? She would need someone who knew about magic and could help her. Her mind told her of one person. A teacher that had helped her before, maybe he'd help her again? Liam Redferne.
Making her way to the magic classrooms - there may have been no lessons going on but he could be there - she was nervous. What if what happened to her could not be controlled? What if every single time she got angry, she released this torrent of magic that created a shield so strong it could kill? No one would want to be around her. Her feet dragged slightly as she walked down the corridor. It was only the second time this had ever happened to her. The first was when she was fourteen. Though, she felt it every time she started getting angry. Normally, she'd walk away to get the magic to settle but she needed to learn how to control it. Somehow.
Reaching the classroom, she gave a tentative knock before pushing open the door. Well. Here goes nothing. She cleared her throat slightly as she looked at her teacher and probably the only person at the school that could help her. "Uhm, Mr Redferne, I need your help" she spoke. She prayed that she would recieve it. If not learning to control whatever it was that happened to her, she would at least love to know what it was that she did.

Teaching Curses and Hexes was something that was considerably more difficult than his previous position of teaching Charms. One mistake could result in lethal a consequence – which was the reason why he had become far stricter as a teacher. Liam could not have someone messing around in this lesson or anyone who doesn’t pay attention or do their homework. It was a sensitive and hazardous subject and should be approached with all seriousness.
Liam wasn’t a big believer in tests and exams written on paper, he was more of a practical teacher because in his point of view, magic was a practical subject. You couldn’t learn how to wield it through words on paper, no, you had to learn by means of practice. However, written tests were compulsory and he supposed they were useful to gain insight into how much his students had learnt and which of them had actually been paying attention and studying out of class. Also, he understood that not all students were capable of performing the bigger spells so he wanted to test that they at least had the knowledge of how to perform, what the curses caused, the risks and the counter-spells. As he sat in his classroom with The White Album playing quietly in the background, marking some of these said written exams he had given to the fifth years yesterday, Liam was tankful to see that his class weren’t going to be sending anyone into a coma or killing anyone with their mistakes at least.
When a light knock sounded on the door and the door opened, he pushed his glasses further up to the bridge of his nose and looked over to find a slightly troubled looking Pandora Hearth standing there. "Pandora" He greeted. After hearing her asking for help, Liam put aside the papers he was marking for a moment and looked at her with his usual emotionless expression- even though he did seem to feel some concern for the young witch, especially since Pandora never struck him as the kind of student that was easily unsettled by something. Also, since working here he had developed a certain level of care towards his students. Whatever they needed help with, he’d gladly try to give it them to the best of his abilities. “What is it you need help with?” He inquired as he wordlessly silenced the quiet music.

As she pushed open the door, she heard the familiar noise of The Beatles. A soft smile tugged at her lips. She adored the group, they were the first she'd ever properly listened to as a kid. Focusing her attention back to Liam, she had no idea where to start. What if this thing she could do was dangerous? She might be a danger to the school, her friends, Sebby.. She pushed the thoughts away. That was why she was here. To understand it - if she could.
Stepping into the room and shutting the door behind her, she stepped forward and perched herself on one of the tables. "Well.. I can do this thing. I don't know, I first noticed it when I was fourteen. My powers had only set in a year previous so I just thought it was that but it happened again" she stopped briefly. Taking in a breath. Her gaze dropped to the floor. "When I get really angry, I feel as if my magic just.. goes crazy. When I was fourteen, I almost crushed a friend of mine from my magic. I didn't need any spell, it just... happened. The other day, it happened again. If they weren't a vampire, I think I would have killed them"
Memories flooded the witch. From when she had almost killed Jordan - her boyfriend at the time - to Milo. She felt terrible about what happened three years ago. What had happened only a few days ago? Well. The vampire had deserved it but she needed to learn to control this. She didn't want to hurt someone she really cared about. She would never forgive herself if this thing ended up hurting one of her loved ones. "Liam.. What's wrong with me?" she asked, looking up and at him. She prayed he'd know. He was the only person she could think of that could possibly help her.

The eldest Redferne sibling listened carefully as she explained what was troubling her, clearly it was something that she didn’t fully understand and shook her quite a bit judging by the way her sentences were all over the place with uncertainty of what exactly she was trying to explain and the way her gaze dropped to the floor as she told him of feeling as if she could’ve killed somebody. One thing stood out in his mind though, she almost crushed someone with her magic when she felt intense anger. Crushed. A memory of his own came forward in his mind of when he was a young boy. He was reading and studying the magic books as he was ordered to do, when shouting followed by a cry of pain tore him from his focus. His brother. Without even thinking twice, the nine year old had stopped what he was doing and rushed out of the room, towards where the sounds had come from. Out in the yard, his brother, Cain, only a year younger than himself was on the ground crying, holding his arm and with a red mark on his face as the man they called their father stood towering above him. It was the first ever time Liam had witnessed any violence on any of his younger siblings…but the anger he had felt, the want to hurt their father for what he did…it all built up inside of him to the point where he literally felt like he was going to explode with anger. Then it happened. A pulse of energy, of magic, like a wave pulsed out from him and knocked his father flying backwards, onto the ground, and Liam could feel it wave suddenly solidify and grow heavier and heavier as his father seemed to struggle, losing his breath, he was being crushed by the force. His uncle had come then, and struck Liam with a curse that made him feel like he was burning from the inside out, breaking that connection with the magic that had emerged from him and Liam had received a horrible beating from his father afterwards also. He was confused and hadn’t understood at the time what had happened, but during the months, he was tutored about what exactly happened and how to control his gift. It was called Shielding. He knew his father saw the benefits of the gift but at the same time his father warned him if Liam dared use it against him again, he’d regret it deeply. The man even went so far as to making a threat against Cain and a very young Connor in order to make sure Liam would never use it against him or his other family ever again.
Needless to say, what Pandora was describing sounded familiar, so was the confusion and when she asked him what was wrong with her and looked up at him with her bright blue eyes, that pleaded for an answer, for help, for guidance with an underlying small sense of fear. Liam’s more compassionate side, usually only reserved for his siblings emerged “Nothing is wrong with you Pandora.” his expression softened- only the slightest, barely noticeable, but it softened nevertheless. “From what I gather from your words, this…ability sounds very familiar. It springs to mind a gift called Shielding.” He paused as he leaned against his own desk, facing her, and took off his glasses to polish them with a handkerchief that had been at his home but was now in his hands as he summoned wordlessly. “It’s not a common ability among sorcerers but it’s not exactly rare either" He put back on his newly polished glasses and returned the handkerchief with an unspoken spell and looked up at her once again. “Tell me, Pandora, when these magical outbursts happen, does it feel like your own magic has built up to the point that it leaves your body entirely in a wave against the person you want to harm?” If what she had was Shielding it would be very interesting, especially since although it was not particularly rare, Liam hadn’t yet met another Shielder, probably because the gift was something most sorcerers kept to themselves a ‘secret weapon’ some may call it. But from experience, if Pandora managed to harness and gain full control of her gift, it could be a very good asset and a sorcerer with it, if their full potential was reached could become a very powerful sorcerer despite their background and blood.
