It was weird, really, how quickly everything in someone's life could change. Just yesterday, Natesa had been on the brink of hating life, hating every aspect that she didn't have absolute control over. Today, though, there was an almost serene look about the girl as she strolled through the streets, her earphones in her ears and a calm smile on her face. Calm. She was rarely... calm. So much so that she'd almost forgotten what it felt like. And, now that she'd been reminded, she didn't want to have to forget again. It was wonderful, not having a thought in your head or a care in the world.
She put it down to everything in her life starting to go right, the way she wanted it. How it suited her, and not some deity that she was sure liked to look down at her and laugh. Even if she was laugh-worthy. She preferred it this way. Being able to walk down the street and not have to be wary of who was around, what was around. She could at least pretend to be normal, the same as everyone else. And, sure, the blue hair drew crazy people sometimes because of the assumption that she was one of "their kind", but sometimes, she was glad it did. Or else she wouldn't have met half of her friends.
She was so lost in her thoughts. She hadn't been this lost in them for years; no, she hadn't dared. However, today was an okay day. She felt much less paranoid than usual. She could let her guard down for just one day, couldn't she? It was perfectly safe to do so for just a while, wasn't it? It seemed so. It didn't look like anyone was going to jump out and attack her, because they couldn't. There wasn't really anywhere for anyone to hide. Unless they were a Light Borea and invisible... but Light Boreai were lovely. They wouldn't do that.
Her earphones still blasting music into her ears, she took a step out into the road, on her way back to the Academy after an extended walk. Maybe the earphones were a bit of a stupid idea. If she'd have been able to hear, she probably would have heard the car coming quickly toward her. Actually, no - she would definitely have heard it. It was almost impossible to miss. Especially when it was followed by the screeching of tyres. It was actually all a bit of a blur, but she felt the impact of the car as it hit her, and the cold slap of the ground as she fell onto it, the world quickly fading to black.
