Roofs were nice, Brent enjoyed being up here by himself since it meant that he could escape the usual chaos that went on inside the school. The downside was that this wasn't exactly a good spot for burning things or he'd end up causing some sort of catastrophic fire that would set the whole building ablaze and then lose his job and, yet again, be accused of pyromania. What did people expect, anyway? He was half fire faerie! He couldn't just sit around and ignore his powers all day, there wasn't even any point in that.
However, this was an excellent location to drink since it wasn't the most crowded of locations by any means. This is what his life had come to: sitting by himself on the rooftops of schools and drinking the evening away. It was his parents' fault. Everything was their fault. They'd created a monster of a man, not him. Brent snorted slightly into his drink, then took another gulp from it. The elder McKinneys were idiots for deciding to have a child, that was a fact. At least he had a pretty face.

Stars. The faerie had thought many things about stars throughout the course of her life. She'd seen a fair few stars too, over the course of her life. She remembered lying in her family's gardens with her brother as a mere girl, gazing up at the stars and pointing out the many constellations to each other. As she grew older, her brother was replaced by a boy, her garden by a field. Eventually, France by England. One boy by another. But, no matter how much Cressida may have changed... the stars didn't. That was what she liked so much about them. They were constants in an ever changing world.
Instead of going to her dorm, as she had intended, she found her feet veering off course, climbing the spiral staircase to the roof. She didn't feel tired enough to sleep yet. No, the night was still quite young. She hadn't been at Northvale for long. Exploring was in order. So, she was a naturally curious person. Sue her. It was hardly her fault. Especially since she'd had miles of rolling French land to explore as a girl. If she'd explored all that space, than how was Northvale any different?
As she reached the top of the staircase, and stepped out into the cool night air, she noticed another person, a man, standing, looking out over the school rounds, over the distant city lights, over everything. It was a pretty little place, was Northvale. And, although she'd seen the bottle in his hand, she chose to ignore it. Now was not the time to be getting jumpy about that; she didn't even know if he was drunk. She could ignore it... unless, y'know, she did actually get into trouble. Which she hoped, for his sake, wouldn't happen.
A small smile on her face, she cleared her throat and quietly said "Pretty, isn't it?"

Whilst continuing to examine the view surrounding him, Brent took another swig from his near-empty beer can. Shortly after that, it was brought to the man's attention that he was no long by himself. That was both a good and bad thing; now Brent wasn't by himself but he'd never been much good at conversing with others. This woman was, unless he was mistaken, also a teacher at Northvale so that gave them one thing in common. It didn't make Brent feel any better about her showing up though.
If he were to be honest, he hadn't fully been concentrating on the view, his mind focusing more on whatever thoughts were cramming his mind in their usual way. Now that it had been pointed out, Brent couldn't help but agree with the woman. It really was stunning up here, which gave him another reason to return when he next got the chance. Of course, the time of day made everything seem all the more perfect in his opinion.
Slowly, Brent turned to look over at the other teacher, instead of staring straight ahead as he had been. He dipped his head slightly in a brief nod. "Yeah, it really is."

The roof was one of the more beautiful places in the school. It wasn't technically in the building, although it came pretty close. It was a part of the building, and that was all Cressida could really say about it being connected to the building in any way. Then again, the whole school was very beautiful, although rather large. It reminded her of the buildings in France that she had left behind when she'd moved as a child. It was considerably bigger than her own manor house had been. But then, it was a school; it needed to be big to accommodate the sheer number of youngsters that attended.
Of course, all the times that Cressida had been on the roof before, it'd been empty except for her and her thoughts. So the fact that other people used the roof... well, it didn't surprise her, per se, but it certainly caught her off guard. She wasn't used to finding people in places that she often came by herself. But, y'know what? That was okay. She didn't mind; it wasn't as if she owned the building. Besides, she vaguely knew this guy from somewhere. If she remembered rightly, he was a teacher as well, so they had that in common.
She wandered over to the edge of the building, resting her arms carefully on the cold, ornate metal railings that surrounded the lip of the roof for safety reasons. "Sometimes I just, y'know, come up here to think." she found herself saying, without even really thinking about it. "There's something about the view that's just... calming, don't you think?"
She tilted her head slightly as she looked out across the landscape once again, before shaking her head slightly. What was she even thinking? She was pretty sure that he wouldn't care about what she thought about it; she didn't even care. Chuckling slightly, she turned back to face him. "My apologies. You probably don't give a crap about what I think, do you?" It wasn't like she'd be surprised if he didn't; it'd happened enough before for her to get used to it.

Maggie was never one for sleep. Especially when he was new to somewhere. He decided instead of going to bed he left his dorm to explore. When he found a door that looked, well interesting. Not that the door was any different then any of the doors he just liked the door, for some odd unknown reason. He opened it not knowing what would be behind it.
Behind the door was a staircase. Without much thought he started up it. Reaching the top he found that it was the rooftop. Alright, he thought to himself. Good place to hide. He inspected his surroundings to find that he wasn't alone. There was a dark haired man and a blonde female. "You gonna pass the booze or do I have to pull out my own," he laughed he didn't know who the two were and he didn't really care. Well, maybe if they were teachers but really he didn't care.

Brent was half-listening to what the woman was saying to him but it didn't sound all that interesting to him. He looked back at the view, taking a swig from his beer bottle. Calming. Meh, yes, he supposed so. Brent made a non-committal grunt in a completely anti-social and rude manner that he seemed to have fallen back into without meaning to. The idea of being friendly was becoming less appealing and seeming like it would take far too much effort so... why bother?
"Yup. No craps to give here, honey." Brent yawned as he spoke, accidentally making himself sound a whole lot more disrespectful than he originally would have. Mentally, he rolled his eyes at himself. He was horrible. But it was kind of fun and also easier for him to be this way because it was programmed into his head.
When he heard another voice, Brent tried his best not to sigh out loud. No one went near his alcohol supply. No one. Especially not some kid who looked way too cheerful for the professor's liking. "Fuck off and grab yourself some water if you're that thirsty." Brent told him, turning around to glare at the student. He could've worded that in a nicer way and he knew it but it was a bit too late for that now.
