Ze always liked to think of himself different than most fire faeries; sure, he was prone to bickering a lot and sometimes, things slip out of his mouth when they shouldn't- but the fact he prided himself the most, was his rein on anger. Bickering was one thing- most time, caused by his infuriating roommate that went by the name, Alex, but full-blown anger and bickering two different things.
Even though he came to Northvale nearing the end of the school year, and haven't been here as long as some residents, nobody can take away the fact he went through a few months without burning a single thing. Shrugging off the few instances where he had close calls, this week been overall good one. The weather been beautiful, bright and warm, the Solstice was just around the corner and he was taking baby steps with Alex.
Or micro-steps, from whatever point of view.
Lately, he been toying with the idea of maybe asking the other fae out on a date but... as soon as he builds up the confidence, he gets swept up in things and forget. Either in jealousy, or snapping up the opportunity to tease and snicker, he didn't buckle down and do it. Though, he was put off by some factors... rumors, being the main one. The brunette was the type of person he would avoid- sure, he was guilty of falling into bed with some, but from what he heard, there was some promiscuous things going on in this school. Teachers with students, people doing things where they shouldn't (Like the bathroom, for example)... God, from the things he heard, was there something in the water?
And while he's hope to have something serious, possibly in this school, each that pass, so does the chances of that happening at all grows slimmer.
So why was he at the park this fine day? Dunno. Work at the Gateway didn't start until later, and he wanted all this romance-dimming thoughts to fizzled under the sun. Sitting on a bench along a path, he long taken off his beanie for the sake of feeling the sun's ray on his unruly head of brown curls; he felt like nodding off, taking a nice nap in the sun and as he's eyes slid shut, he felt a nice, caressing warmth of energy flow into him.
He loved summer, truly and solely.
But of course, this wondrous nap was only to interrupted. At first, he ignored the sharp, shrill whine of a child- it was close by, somewhere behind him and man, that kid had a set of lungs on him. Ze winced, as the sound was finally getting to point pass annoyance and skirting around head-ache inducing. Usually, he was fine around kids but...honestly, he wanted to turn around in his bench seat and just yell for that kid to shut the hell up.
And then, as abruptly as it started, the screams/crying/whatever banshee making that sound was doing. Oh god- don't tell him that someone went over and killed the kid or something? But no, that was too good to be true, wasn't it? He felt the eerie sensation of someone looming over him and then-
"WHAT THE FU-"
....so this kid knows how to sneak up on people. Or teleport- because he swore the kid sounded farther than he really was. The child, no more than ten or eleven, with pale skin and dark eyes- he gotten the feeling this kid was either a vampire or just plain creepy. A creepy, teary eyed kid. He tugged on Ze's hoodie, before pointing at a tree with a kite tangled up in it. He glanced at the kid, to the kite, then at the kid again. "Can you please get it down?" The child sniffled and Ze raised his hands as if to say 'Don't even fucking try that shrieking cry thing again', and nodded.
He sighed. It didn't take him long to get up to the kite, to say the least. At first, he thought he could simply climb up but... God, that tree was impossible to. So shifting into fae-form and flitted up to the branch that tangled kite was in, only to realize... it was too fragile to take his normal form. Sigh. Looks like he's doing this miniature size, then. Either that or look like an ass and just say no without trying.
At first, it was going fine and all- going after the string tangled in the simplest of places, and if he paid closer attention, he would of been done fairly quickly. But he didn't. Unknowing to him, as he hopped around and gathering the string to loosen the kite to freedom, the string slowly but surely wrapped around his feet and tangling himself in the mess.
And then he tripped.
He's fall was short-lived, and nothing life threatening... but, gah. Hanging upside down with his feet securely tied by the string and from Ze's upside-down vision, the kid just stared at him, fucking brat was laughing. Flailing around uselessly, he tried to pull himself up with the aid of his wings but boy... he could barely do a sit up- how would he manage this feat. So as he swayed slightly, he shot the kid with the most intimidating glare he could muster and huffed out, "Hey... can you get some help or something? Please?"

Frankly, after being at Northvale for a couple of weeks, Chris wasn’t all that sure that he didn’t regret his decision after all. There seemed to be a lot of drama going on in the academy, like… teacher-student relationships, people randomly taking off to France or New York City or stuff like that. Heck, there were 5th-years who were so close to finishing their schooling that were dropping out the week before summer holidays! It was all really odd, and Chris found himself rather uncomfortable with how Northvale Academy was turning out. Maybe he was just homesick, but it was… exceedingly hard to talk to people or make friends in Northvale. This was probably just because he joined halfway through the school year when all the cliques had already been formed, but still. It kind of really sucked, and it didn’t help that Max wasn’t there with Chris. Max made everything better, always.
Damn, he missed Max. He still did write to his brother, of course, and they called each other at least once every two nights and talked for eons, but it wasn’t the same. And now even Max was getting concerned about how Chris hadn’t even made any friends in Northvale, which was… depressing, for one, but it was hardly Chris’ fault! Max had always been the sociable one between the two of them, and everyone knew that the reason why 90% of the people hung out with Chris was because they got to know him through Max. Max… attracted people. Chris didn’t really, no matter how epic he secretly was. But making friends by himself was really hard for Chris, who was already super used to having Max make friends for him.
Chris really missed his old friends. But, well, which new kid who just moved 10000000000km away from home wouldn’t? And no matter whether going to Northvale Academy was Chris’ choice or not, Chris was allowed to miss everyone—his friends, his family, especially his twin brother. Heck, if he didn’t miss Max, something would be very wrong with him—he would probably be admitted into a mental hospital or something. And while Chris was trying his very best to tempt Max into joining him at Northvale Academy, mostly with the excessive use of over-the-top and most of the time exaggerated tales of how “awesome” it was over here, it wasn’t working as well as Chris had hoped—especially with Max’s new girlfriend.
According to Max, he and Stephanie had started dating back home, and Max was pretty interested in knowing what Chris’ love life was like. Having a love life in Northvale seemed risky and unnecessarily dramatic, though, what with all the odd dramatic stuff that seemed to constantly be going on. Somehow Chris wondered if he’d be able to escape the crazy drama if he decided to enter a relationship with someone—heck, if even decided to be friends with someone. But then again, he wasn’t exactly sure about most of the rumours floating around, especially since he didn’t exactly have a reliable source of information (other than hearing other people in the hallways gossip, that is).
Ah, well, it wasn’t the time for Chris to worry about crap like that. After seeing that today was a Very Nice Day when he woke up, Chris had decided to be relatively adventurous and venture out of Northvale for the first time since he arrived. He would’ve gone out earlier to buy new clothes and keep up with Northvalian fashion, but shopping alone was shitty, anyway. So he decided to go to the park, maybe enjoy the fresh air and, uh, fix a few screwed-up benches or something. Keywords being “or something”, because he wasn’t actually particularly keen on fixing benches. That sounded really freaking lame.
He was quickly interrupted, though, by the sound of some poor boy crying. Concerned, Chris looked around, trying to figure out where the crying child could be—and then he saw that some other guy was already helping the kid out. That was really nice of the guy, to help a poor crying child like that. Most people would just ignore the kid or maybe even yell that the kid to shut up. Smiling a bit (what? It was always awesome to see nice people do nice things. It gave Chris hope that the world wasn’t such a shithole after all), Chris watched as the guy changed to fae form and flew up, presumably to retrieve the kite that was stuck up there. Then the fae did some odd-looking clumsy stunt-y thing which resulted in him hanging upside-down by his legs, and Chris couldn’t help but laugh. Really? Sighing, Chris decided that he (most likely) had to help the two (poor, poor things) and walked up to them.
"Hey, need some help?" he called out, grinning at the upside-down fae. Then he kneeled down so that he was face-to-face with the little boy. "Hey kid, don’t worry, okay? I’ll get your kite down." And then he looked at the tree. Gosh, that would be hard to climb… But oh. Nearby rested a convenient and rather innocent metal fence-thing that didn’t seem to be very used. With relative ease, Chris used his powers and made a bit of the fence into a hook of sorts, and after a while more of struggling, managed to get both the kite and the fae down.
The string was soon untangled and the fae was free. Chris returned the kite to the little boy, with instructions for him to keep away from trees when flying kites in the future (because no matter how one looked at it, that was just a very bad idea), and then turned to the disgruntled-looking fae. "You alright?" he asked, trying to stifle a laugh at how heroically the fae had ended up tangling himself in the string. Despite never having had been in fae form before (simply because boreai didn’t have miniature forms, much to Chris’ displeasure—could you imagine how much easier it’d be to handle the finicky and small bits of metalworking with a miniature form?), Chris was pretty sure that to end up so tangled in string must have been a pretty clumsy and fail move on the fae’s part. Sticking out a hand (and still snickering a little bit) to help the fae up (although it didn’t really work because he was still in miniature fae form, soooo…), Chris put on his least-offensive smile. "Hi, I’m Chris."

Few things could get him annoyed, to tell the truth.
For example, people he didn't know touching his stuff- by now, he was use to Alex taking his things, but the sense of someone getting their hands that touched God knows what before, on his stuff... that'll make a guy twitch. Throwing him in a pool will make him huff and puff with annoyance, too. Don't blame him- there was something not right with water and frankly, if he was stupid enough to admit his fear of it, you'll know why. And then there's his sister, the one person for the longest time could honestly be the only one to dig under his skin and grin about it afterwards without a regret. Mostly because she could deal with anything he'll dish out at her, since she being a... "natural" at her powers, as his Nana would claim.
Tch. If you asked him, she was nothing but a show off; just because she had better control and style with fire than his usual, 'must-burn-all-the-things-style', didn't mean she was the better faerie. It didn't....
But putting aside his jealousy bitterness towards his sister, at least he had a reason. Coming to Northvale, Ze found a new person that started to dig under his skin as well- but came in the form of Alex's friend, Milo the vampire. The vampire prostitute, apparently; and as shallow as it was, that made him want to inch away. While he wasn't want that wanted to fall prey to rumors... there was some things about how Milo was and it made sense. He tried to hide his dislike, but something didn't sit right with him. Maybe it was how he and Alex were, and that he was only feeling jealousy stirring about, but...
Sigh.
He didn't know. Milo was the cool kind of guy he would of liked to get along, but funny thing, he didn't. It was weird but what can you do? He couldn't force himself to like him. Beside, there was nothing to worry about- as the long as he faked his smile and keep his dislike to himself, maybe he could tolerate the other? There wasn't a real reason for the dislike, and it killed Ze a bit, since he was almost looking for a reason- he had the feeling also, that sooner or later, it'll probably pop up.
Bleh, what he really hoping for though, is for no drama to arise from all this all ill feeling. But knowing his nature and race... there was a chance he might make some. It was just the matter of time, really.
God, he could feel the blood rushing to his head- probably red-faced, both in embarrassment, because come on, he just manage to fall out of a tree, tangled by the kite's string he was trying to get out for that damn kid and now struggling to reach his feet, and from hanging upside down.
Damn kid. Damn this kid. Hephaestus, damn it now. was his thoughts as he glared at the giggling child. "Haha, yeah, sure. Just watch the funny fae swing from a string- ain't this freakin' hilarious?" He snapped but that just made the kid laugh even more, holding his sides and soon, the Kite boy was as red-faced as him. Geez- if the kid was creepy before, he was scarier now. It wasn't that funny.
...Or maybe it was. Because, soon, the boy's laughter was joined by another. Great. Just fucking great. He grumbled out a "No, I enjoy hanging around like this." but Ze was thankful nonetheless. I mean, finally, someone came!
And...the guy was a borea? Using the fence to get the kite and him down, that was pretty awesome to tell the truth! Ze went to work with untying the blasted string off his feet, relieved when they finally came off and his face started to return normal. That was better- taking a deep breath and pinching the bridge of his nose, cooling down his annoyance (though, before the boy left, he sent the kid a withering glare) before looking at the offered hand and accepting it. After dusting himself off, he grew back to normal size and let a relieved sigh. "Thanks man- seriously, that damn brat was useless. But at least I'm done, thanks to you." Ze gave him a friendly pat on the back, grinning, "Anyways, yeah- I'm alright, Chris. I'm Ze... Zephyr, but you can just call me Ze."
He gave the other a quick but obvious once-over; the guy looked his age... "Hey, you attend Northvale right? Hm... I don't think I met you before- new student? Well, I'm a newish, been here a while but whatever." Heh, he babbling but the guy was friendly... a jerk for laughing but he seemed nice enough?

The person you saved turns out to be strangely gorgeous, which, you suppose, is a good thing. At least this way, you don't have to start yet another fake friendship which you want so much to just end already. He does start rambling, though, which you find vaguely annoying, but no one's perfect and it's only a little odd. You figure that if you do end up friends with him, you'll get used to it. Plus, it's also kind of endearing in a way.
He starts rambling about how he's now studying at Northvale Academy and he's relatively new-ish, which is another good thing. If he's new-ish, that means that he doesn't have that many friends yet, which also means that you have a chance of having a proper friend in the school. That's a wonderful thing, actually, because you figured that you wouldn't be able to find anyone who didn't already have a clique who wasn't completely socially inept. Perhaps you were lucky, after all. But perhaps you weren't, because if this guy is "relatively" new-ish, maybe there's a reason why he doesn't have a clique yet. Maybe he's, like, one of those horrible, clingy people who won't take a simple "no, shut your face, I don't want to be your friend." Because you've had experience with that kind of person, and they're the most annoying people in the world. They're also the toughest little buggers to get off your back.
Still, though, if you're planning on making friends with this guy, you figure that you should actually offer him some encouragement. A smile forms on your face, hesitant but overjoyed and absolutely beautiful like you know it is.
"Hi, Ze." you tell him, a cheery note carrying in your tone. "Yeah, I'm new; I just transferred in 'bout a week ago, actually." You don't bother replying to the other statements about the boy being useless-- children are innocents in your book, especially since one never knew what kind of person a child would grow up to become (this is said more in the shallow, damn she might be hot next time way than in the damn, she might actually be a good person way)-- and other crap. It doesn't matter, anyway. With a flick of your hand, you restore the fence to its previous state. You contemplate leaving, but decide not to. What the heck, right? It's a nice day, Ze seems like a pretty nice guy... might as well make the most of it.
You begin to walk, signalling to Ze that he should walk with you. Just as you signal for him to follow you, you start to regret it-- why on Earth did you do that? That was an idiotic thing to do. Now you were going to need to start a conversation with him or seem rude, and you really didn't want to seem rude. Then again, it wasn't like you had many teenage boy-interest. People are interested in music, and... trucks. Your interest in art and metallurgy is hardly an interesting or good place to start a conversation unless you're planning on boring other person off. It's most likely even worse for starting a potential friendship with a particularly beautiful man (although you're still perfectly straight, you aren't blind to the charms of your gender). Beginning to wonder what you'll even talk about, you stay silent for a while, but before Ze has the chance to start the conversation (although you're not exactly sure whether or not he was thinking of starting a conversation) you start it. It's better this way; otherwise you might lose interest in talking to him before you even have a proper conversation.
"So, what were you doing before you managed to get yourself all tangled up in that string?" Looking back, you should probably have taken a photograph; it's not often that one gets to see such a sight, and blackmail material is so hard to come by nowadays. "Because if you weren't actually doing anything, maybe we could... hang out, or something. It sounds fun, and I was just letting myself get lost in my thoughts before I saved you." You getting lost in your own thoughts is never a good thing, especially after your move to Northvale; it's easier for you to start missing your family and friends. Max, especially, although you'll persuade him to come here soon enough.
But then again, it's not like you're going to force the poor guy to stay with you while you enjoy his company, or... whatever. "If you were busy, though, it's fine," you hasten to add. "I mean, I'm sure I'll see you around-- in school or something, since we both go to Northvale, right?" You might be a shallow bitch, but you're not going to force someone who doesn't understand or want the merits of your company to hang out with you. They can go deal with their own problems and lives if they don't want to hang out with you. And, well, maybe the guy was actually busy or something-- in which case it would be completely unreasonable of you to demand that he stay with you. You're not unreasonable, either, unless when it's coming to prices for your metal, because handmade deserves more money, okay? But yeah. You're not going to force him to hang out with you if he doesn't want to, or can't.
