There was something about sitting in a room alone. That's what Gilbert was doing at the moment. He was sitting in the student's lounge alone hoping to meet someone but no he was sitting alone on a couch his fez somewhat askew and his glasses falling off his nose because it had seemed that he had fallen asleep wit his head forward. So the glasses wanted to fall off his face but the tip of Gilbert's nose kept them there.
Gilbert's dreams were filled with him flying through the air on a sort of dragon/dinosaur/horse thing and there was a beautiful woman or maybe it was a really feminine looking man. Well, whoever or whatever it was lounging on the creature's tail and Gilbert was playing a guitar singing to the beautiful person. It was a lovely dream and Gilbert didn't want it to end, even though he knew it would.

Northvale was new.
If there was one thing Benjamin didn't really like that much, it was probably change. He liked things to say the same. And, it was probably a bad thing, but Ben was a bit of a control freak anyway. He'd heard the rumours flying around the place of student teacher relationships and vampires drinking people dry. That, and more. So much drama! He probably would never have come, had he known about all this stuff going on before he'd arrived. The lack of control he had over what happened to him (and Bryony, by default) was really, really lame. He couldn't deny that for a second.
And then there was the fact that he hadn't even thought about it for a moment before he'd petitioned his father for both him and his younger sister to be enrolled. The idea that he'd just thrown Bryony into a huge, dangerous trap in an attempt to look out for her better actually frightened him a bit. It gave him a weird feeling in the pit of his stomach. Like he was going to be sick, but wasn't quite feeling ill enough to. It wasn't pleasant. In fact, it was kind of the opposite. It made him feel giddy.
But that wasn't going to happen. Of course, he'd heard a lot of stories. But for all he knew, they were just rumours. And, anyway. Even though there were many who experienced dramatic changes in their lives because of the school that they had chosen to attend, there were probably even more who had just managed to get through the academy fairly unscathed. Which was reassuring, to say the least. He was determined to be in the latter group, along with Bryony. If anything happened to Bryony that she didn't want to happen, he'd probably go insane with worry.
The student's lounge was a large room, with plush sofas and bookcases, everything that any common room needed. Except for the sleeping guy on the other sofa - Ben didn't really think one of those was necessary to make the atmosphere any more comfortable. Not wanting to be annoying or ill-mannered, he tried to skirt around the sofa on which the boy was sleeping, only to trip over his outstretched legs. Oh, god. Well done Ben. He could have just died right there and then, until, aha! The best idea ever struck. This was a good one, he could feel it.
As quickly as possible, he curled up in a ball, and pretended to be sleeping as soundly as the boy had been, just in case he had been stirred awake. That way, the light borea would look much less guilty. His plan was foolproof. He knew it.

Why someone would so rudely awaken someone, Gilbert will never know. Who it was, well, that was quite simple. It had to be the only other person in the room. But, that person was also asleep. Gilbert scrunched his face trying to think who else could have done it. No it had to of been the other person in the room... Wait, didn't Gilbert recognize him. Wasn't he his roommate? It seemed neither of the boys liked to sleep in their own dorm. But, wait no. The other guy was guilty of waking Gilbert up. Then again he looked so peaceful just sleeping there.
Gilbert's brain was fighting him. It did that a lot. He wanted to do one thing, you know get revenge, but he usually ended up just creepily watching people while they sleep. It couldn't be that creepy though in this situation. He was just waken up, very rudely by a person he sorta knew who had the gall to pretend he was asleep right after he had tripped over Gilbert's legs. Which he had plenty of space to walk around. Blehh. Why were making decisions about whether to get revenge or not so hard?
Well, maybe he could just wait till the other boy woke up and just ask him what had happened. Yeah, that sounded like a good plan. Just wait. Gilbert twiddle his thumbs for a moment before remembering he probably looked quite ridiculous. His hair was probably all over the place and his hat was, he reached up to find it, not even on top of his head. He looked in front of him. Thank god it just fell off his head onto the floor in front of him and not like behind or under the couch a place where he would never be able to find it. And his glasses, they were probably just hanging there, barely. He pushed his glasses back up and put his fez back on his head and leaned back enjoying the view. Not, of the other boy. What was his name? B something. B-obby? B-arry? B-althazar? B-enjamin? Yeah Benjamin. That was a nice name. Jessica had dated a Benjamin once. Gilbert had liked him. Gilbert wondered what happened to him. Something about already being engaged to another girl or something. Gilbert didn't know the details. But, anyway he liked the name Benjamin. Hm... Maybe something interesting is on tv.

So this was quite clearly the best idea that Benjamin had ever had. His teeth caught his lip as he bit back a grin at the sheer genius of it. But hold on, wait! Couldn't he do something to make this look more convincing? Could he shut his eyes that little bit tighter, curl up that little bit smaller? Maybe he could've shoved a thumb in his mouth or something. No, wait. He wasn't eight anymore. No, he hadn't been for ten years. Even though sometimes he wished he was still a child so that he could do more without being judged for it, that wasn't quite how aging worked.
Oh well. He was only eighteen. He was still a child, in Boreai terms.
He was just about to, when he realised it was a little to late to move. He was already being looked at, because the person was awake and kind of just... watching him. Not that Ben could really see it; his eyes were closed. But he could just kind of feel the other guy's eyes on him, which was a little weird. He wasn't going to question it, though - not only would he get busted, but he had a feeling he knew the boy from somewhere. In other words, it would be easier for the boy to shout at him if he knew him, which was not a comforting thought in the slightest.
Panic started to set in. It wasn't that Ben was shy, no, not in the slightest. It wasn't the thought of talking to the boy that was freaking him out. It was the idea of being busted for tripping over him with so much space to walk around him and being yelled at for it. No one liked being yelled at, and this little borea was no exception. He didn't like making people mad. What if he wasn't convincing enough? What if he didn't look like he was sleeping at all, but just looked like he was pretending to sleep? Like he actually was.
He heard movement from on the couch. Sounded like the boy had leaned back. Did that mean that he wouldn't be able to see Ben anymore? He really didn't know, and he was afraid to check. But he wouldn't know if he didn't look. It wasn't like he was psychic or anything. No. He needed to stop being a wimp. He needed to just peep. For a second. So, after about ten more seconds of deliberation, he slowly blinked his eyes open, blue and wide. He didn't really know what to expect, but he was ready to run if he needed to. Gosh, he felt like such an idiot.

Gilbert was considering closing his eyes again when he noticed that the other boy had opened eyes."Good morning sunshine," Gilbert said with a smirk. He was glad the boy was awake now. No he'd have someone to talk to. Or maybe he wouldn't want to talk but it didn't matter I was going to find as much as I could about him. He was my roommate. I should know more about him than I did. "I hope I didn't wake you. I was trying to be quiet. Hey, aren't we roomies?" The other boy was sort of adorable, in a kind of, awww it's so cute. Can I touch it, sort of way. Not that Gilbert would touch the other boy without his permission. But, sometime in the night he probably will end up finding himself stroking the other boys hair while he was asleep. He just couldn't help himself sometimes. Gilbert's subconscious was a dangerous place.

Maybe he'd gotten away with it. Maybe the other guy hadn't noticed him. At least, that was what Ben was trying to convince himself of as he lay, eyes squeezed shut tight and breathing forced into what he hoped was an even pace. But he also knew that he was the only other person in the room, and so the movement that had been heard had obviously come from the other boy. He was probably awake, and he'd probably seen the light borea pitifully pretending to sleep. Probably. He'd definitely seen it. Which wasn't exactly ideal, no, not in the slightest. What if the other boy thought that he was being rude?
He blinked his eyes open, just to see if he had indeed been noticed, or if baseless paranoia was just eating at him again. Sure enough, his blue eyes connected with smiling brown ones, ones that were a little familiar. This was his roommate. He wasn't so good with names, but he knew that this boy's began with a G. He couldn't place it though - which made him feel ten times worse about the situation, even though it all seemed to be okay. He didn't even know this boy's name properly, and yet he'd woken him up? Rude. Very rude. And rude was something that Ben preferred not to be.
Sunshine. He didn't know if that was intended or not, but it made him chuckle all the same. Almost inaudibly, but there was definitely a warm, lighthearted chuckle there. Sunshine was what he and Bryony called each other (most often him to Bryony), so it was just enough to make him laugh. "Hi there!" he chimed back happily, almost forgetting the situation he was in as he cheerily waved at the other boy and pulled himself up off of the carpet. It was a comfortable carpet, but it would probably look a little odd if he just stayed there. No matter how much he'd have liked to.
...Ah. That was why Ben had been feeling so guilty before. It all came rushing back to him as he looked at the floor, awkwardly clearing his throat. "Erm, that might have been me actually," he said as matter-of-factly as possible, although his voice was still laced with guilt. "Sorry about that. And uh, yeah. I think we are." At a loss for further things o say, he stuck out his hand politely. "My name's Ben? Ben Harrington."
