Brent tended to avoid the teacher's lounge, mostly because Brent + Annoying Person = Disaster Zone. He wasn't in too bad a mood at the moment though and, after peeking inside, he saw that it was empty which was why he'd dared to venture in today.

The hybrid sat down on one of the chairs, wondering what the point in coming here in the first place was because he sure as hell couldn't think of one. It was another way to kill the spare time he had too much of, he supposed. Also, since he was the only person here at the moment, it was kind of nice just to stop and think. He was relaxed, and that didn't happen often for a man so highly-strung. Maybe this wasn't such a pointless trip after all?

Cain wasn't having a good day nor was it bad either. It was just... boring. There was nothing else to do but teach. Liam was busy. Connor was busy. Aria was busy. Jonah was busy. Even Tobias was busy. He sighed in frustration as he made his way to the one place where he could just sit down and relax: The Teacher's Lounge. It was the one place no student would ever be in and ask him questions that didn't even relate to their class. Since he started teacher, he had receiver a number of illicit proposals from students, both male and female.And here he thought he was scaring everyone away with his cold front and death glares.

He slowly pushed open the door, not even taking a second or two to see if someone else was in there. He went straight to the coffee table and made himself a cup by hand. He was that stressed out. "And here I really thought that glaring at students would keep them away... But no. It just made them, come closer. Crazy students hitting on teachers nearly half their age." he said and sighed before picking up his coffee and turning around to sit on the sofa. But as he turned, he was surprised to see that he wasn't as alone as he thought.

Cain was so surprise that he ended up jerking the hand with the cup of coffee, spilling the hot contents on himself and some on the floor. "Hai scherzando. he cursed in Italian as he looked down on himself. The day wasn't getting any better.

He barely noticed when some other guy came in and went over to get some coffee. Brent would've gotten some himself, y'know, if he actually liked the stuff. He was just extremely fussy when it came to what he was going to eat or drink since he disliked the majority of things. Not really meaning to, Brent ended up listening to what the dark-haired man was saying as well. Something about students hitting on teachers, he thought; that immediately made him think of Chase. Brent didn't succeed at all in fighting back a smirk.

In all honesty, he thought that the other teacher had already noticed him but Brent was proved wrong when the guy turned around, a hilarious expression of surprise on his face when he spotted Brent. Then, he managed to spill the hot coffee everywhere - although mostly over himself. Luckily Brent hadn't gotten any on him, or he would've freaked. Brent couldn't help himself from childishly giggling in response. It was pretty funny though, you had to admit. And Brent was nearly always pleased to witness others' misfortunes. For a moment he bit back an amused grin and then looked up at the older-looking fellow, "Oh, um, you okay there?"

Cain sighed to himself and muttered, "Si prega di non lasciare che il giorno andare peggio." His Italian was coming out whenever he was stressed or frustrated or very angry. He turned to the other and waved his hand, "I'm fine. Sorry. I just have too much on my mind right now."he apologized though he didn't know why. Cain didn't do anything wrong anyway but he already said it so no take backs. With a snap of a finger, the spill on the floor and the stain on his clothes disappeared. He looked down at his cup and saw that he needed a new cup so he snapped his finger again and the contents of his cup vanished.

"Hiding from the student population?" Cain asked, trying to make conversation, hoping that the other teacher wouldn't comment on his jumpy expression. For someone who had grown up always being alert, Cain certainly wasn't using what he had learned that very moment.

Brent wasn't sure, but he thought that the other guy was possibly speaking Italian and he didn't understand a word of it. He and languages had never gotten on. Besides, Brent didn't really have the patience to learn another one, having to cope with English was almost too much effort for him sometimes. Italian did sound kind of hot though. Brent's mind wandered for a moment, contemplating whether he should try it but... no. He was too lazy.

"Mm." he distractedly hummed in response, frowning as the man was literally able to clear the mess up with a snap of his fingers. Now why couldn't Brent exchange his stupid Siren-Mermaid-Tail-Thing for powers as useful as that? It just wasn't fair. He didn't want a tail, he'd trade it in for a sorcerer's abilities any day.

Brent nodded, guessing that was the truth. Not all of it, but part of it anyway. "And plotting world domination." he added, keeping a straight face. Now, that was also pretty close to the truth - if world domination included brooding over his hatred for things and people while escaping from them. He thought it was likely to.

Cain smiled and chuckled, "If world domination was easy, I would have done it instead of being a teacher... I'd rather be other things rather than being a teacher really." he said as he finished making his new cup of coffee. He sat down on the armchair next to the sofa and placed his book down on the table. "I'm Cain Redferne by the way. Potion's professor. Don't tell the students that I can smile. It'll just give them more reason to annoy me even more." he said jokingly and took a sip of his drink.

Cain could already tell that the man he was with was not entirely human. And the reason Cain thought of it was the fact that he was slightly drawn to the man. He had a certain charm or pull about him that made Cain want to sit next to him instead of just near him. He subtly shook off the feeling while waiting for the other to introduce himself.

"I'm glad I'm not the only one that really would rather be somewhere else." Brent smirked. Most of the time, he really hated his job and wished he could be doing something he found more enjoyable and easier. Brent knew it was pointless thinking that though because that wasn't the way life worked. Not for most people.

He rolled his eyes, understanding what Cain was talking about. Sometimes he'd end up smiling or laughing during a class and shock everyone, part of him sort of felt annoyed when that happened but he dealt with it. It wasn't as if the issue was something worth dwelling over. "Brent McKinney, I teach business." he replied taking advantage of his rare good mood by being polite, "It's nice to meet you."

Cain smiled at him, "Pleasure meeting you too, Brent. If I may call you Brent that is" he added, not wanting to sound like he was being close too fast. Cain was fine with having small talks with his co-teachers, as long as it did not involve work or students. "Yes, well... Being a teacher is a bit pressuring. Add hormonal students into the equation makes life seem less pleasing." he said as he leaned back on his seat. He studied Bren'ts face in one glance and to Cain's surprise, Brent was actually stunning to look at. But Cain didn't like dating co-workers. Too close and it would bore him since he'd be seeing him or her everyday.

"I assume you already know that I'm a sorcerer right? If my job or what I did earlier didn't speak for itself that is. I hope you won't take this rudely but may I inquire what race you are. There is something about you that is quite... interesting." he said honestly. Lying was never helpful if one intends to have a long and solid friendship with someone.

Cain was awfully polite, he'd noticed. There was nothing wrong with that, Brent simply wasn't all that used to people behaving so civilly because this was Northvale. "I don't mind, Brent's fine." he batted a hand, shaking his head for a moment. And as for hormonal students, Brent couldn't help but grimace at the mention of them. They were difficult enough to control, let alone teach! "Ugh, yes. This place is driving me insane." Or, well, further into the depths of insanity but it wasn't as if he'd say that out loud. Brent didn't think there was actually anything seriously wrong with him... he just liked fire a bit too much.

Despite not being the brainiest person in the world, yes, Brent had come to the conclusion that the other man was a sorcerer. He nodded to confirm so and predicted what Cain was going to ask him next. Interesting. His lips twitched upwards into a small smile. Interesting was good. "Half fire faerie, half siren." the hybrid answered smugly.

When Brent said that he was part siren part fire fae, this just peaked Cain's interest even more. He smiled, "Definitely interesting... Water and fire... Amazing in every sense of the word." he complimented as he took another sip of his coffee. Cain wanted to know what it was like being the perfect contrast of two elements: fire and water. "So, since your part siren, can you sing?" Cain asked with an interested smile. He had never met a siren before or even had the chance to speak with one up close.

As he studied Brent's face more carefully, he couldn't help but admire the beauty and charm that the other man was emitting. Sirens were in beautiful yet dangerous creatures. But since this particular siren was part fire fae, Cain wondered what it was like to be part water creature and yet be a fire fae at the same time.
