"We are our choices"
the 'drissies' | faerie family~
The Driscoll family were once a large, respected group within the faerie community. The two original members, Conan and Grainne had several children. Cian, Emer, Regan, Maeve, Elvie, Riordan and Darragh. They all lived together in the same village in Ireland. It didn't take long before the children began to marry though the wars ripped this family apart. Killing so many. Breaking the few that survived.
Ten years ago, an awful mistake made by Darragh Driscoll completely ruined the Driscoll family’s name.
In place of his brother Cian- who had been sent to one of the faeries secret camps to improve defences- the inexperienced young Darragh assumed command of one of the faery military units. During his command, his unit picked up a rumour that vampires had a secret camp on their province and that Viktor Verdoux was currently positioned there. Not knowing exactly what to do, panicking because Viktor Verdoux was a vampire to be feared and because he did not want to engage in battle with a camp run by Viktor but he knew he had to do something Darragh decided to let another group do his dirty work.
And so, Darragh sacrificed some of his own fae sending them onto Fenn territory right into a trap and whilst under interrogation because the fae who were young, new recruits, frightened and just wanted to live gave away information on the hidden vampire camp’s location just like Darragh had anticipated. Those young fae were not spared.
Darragh waited to hear word that the Fenn had eradicated the vampire camp but that’s not the news they received. Instead, they received the devastating news that one of their own faeries at one of their own secret camps had been slaughtered. By the Fenns. What made it worse for the Driscoll family? Among the many names of those who died were Cian, Regan, Maeve and Riodran Driscoll.
Everyone looked at the Driscolls completely infuriated by their actions. By Darragh’s actions that led to the death of his own kin. The family was dismissed from anymore participation or contribution in the war and many even began to shun them. The family crumbled.
Only six members of the family survived. But now the Driscoll's are mocked in the faerie community. The mistake they made has meant they aren't trusted anymore. Many people view them as cowards for what happened. Although they want to rebuild their reputation, there are so many cracks within the family that they could crumble at any moment.
MARLENE
114 .x. soul .x. local/school .x. Sienna Miller
They say that Marlene Driscoll was once a nice woman. She loved her husband and her children. Needless to say, she would have done anything for them. But that was then. After the mistake, causing the death of her husband Cian, her entire personality shifted. Especially after she had to marry Darragh, her late husband's brother. The woman turned cold, bitter. The only ray of light is the love she has for her children - Cian's children.
She loves her son, Keegan the most. Although no mother should have favourites. Keegan is his father's son and Marlene sees so much of Cian in him it is hard for her not to adore him the most. Every single day she blames Darragh for the death of her husband and despises him. She hates the fact that she is married to a traitor and a coward.
More of her motherly nature comes out with young Ren. His mother, Maeve and Marlene were extremely close. She was looking after the toddler when the accident happened. Causing his parent's deaths. Now, she cares for him, just as she cares for her own children. For Maeve. Her sister-in-law and friend. Another loved one that Darragh's mistake killed.
DARRAGH
102 .x. earth .x. local .x. Cillian Murphy
Darragh is probably the most hated member of the Driscoll family, as he led half of them to their deaths during the wars, including his older brother, Cian. This has earned him resentment, if not hatred, from both Keegan and Marlene, the son and wife of Cian respectively. He is also hated by the rest of the family for his reckless actions.
Darragh is what could be called power-hungry. Despite being an Earth Faerie, he is also reckless, and rarely thinks his actions through before actually carrying them out, proven by the dire consequences of the mistake he make all those years ago, something that he hasn't appeared to have learned from at all. Of course, this means that he is arrogant and prideful, not as smart as he thinks he is.
Like the rest of the family, Darragh wishes to repair the Driscoll family and name, even though he knows that it is near impossible for him to do so.
KEEGAN
19 .x. fire .x. College Student .x. Liam Hemsworth
Keegan is the eldest of Marlene and her late husband Cian. He is everything that a fire faerie should be - confident, strong, with the mind of a leader. In fact, he's more of a leader than his stepfather and uncle Darragh will probably ever be. If it'd been Keegan in Darragh's shoes, had Keegan been old enough for that, then the mistake would probably never have happened.
Despite being a fire faerie, Keegan is relatively logical and wise, and rarely acts on strong emotions, unless it is very, very important that he does so. He is not impulsive or reckless, unlike Darragh. However, when put into the right situation, Keegan can lose control, just like everyone else can.
Keegan clashes with Darragh, as their personalities are almost the polar opposite of one another. If Darragh says something, chances are Keegan will disagree. Keegan also massively resents Darragh, as he is responsible for the death of Cian, Keegan's father, when the boy was a mere nine years old.
AISLINN
17 .x. soul .x. Fifth Year .x. Sarah Bolger
The eldest daughter of Cian and Marlene, Aislinn is cool, calm and collected. She’s ever so polite and rarely raises her voice, is kind and compassionate but is also very cautious and careful. She doesn’t like to step out of her comfort zone and shelters herself from any bad influences or anything that could lead to trouble of any kind. This young soul faery can be very sensitive, especially when it comes to her family or other races.
She was only seven when her uncle made the mistake that killed her father and many others and the emotions she felt from those around her at the time have left their mark. Grief, hatred, shame. She can’t be around too much of her family at once because they clash and it brings back those feelings. Also, when it comes to other races she can be quite jumpy and tries to avoid them to to best of her ability.
CAMEO
16 .x. air .x. Fourth Year .x. Saoirse Ronan
Cameo is your typical air faerie. She lives in her own little world and is often described as a "dreamer" by the rest of the family. She hardly pays attention to the real world and spends most of her time reading fiction. She loves nothing more than getting lost in a novel and the world that comes with it. Being distracted from the troubles that come with her family.
Of course, much like the rest of her family she does not love Darragh. Cameo loved her father and misses him dearly. Her novels providing a distraction from the grief she feels. Though, she is never cruel to Darragh. She will be polite and civil to him but it is clear there is not a lot of love there.
On the rare occassion that Cameo does get mad she is a force to be reckoned with. Though she normally appears to be happy, if you mock her family name her temper will flare. She is a prideful young woman and wants nothing more than to repair her family name. She knows that will be a hard task, but she finds it wrong that her entire family is scorned just because of the mistake that Darragh made.
REN
13 .x. water .x. First Year .x. Liam Aiken
[/font]Ren, at thirteen, was only three when his parents, Cormac and Maeve, died. He now only remembers fragments of his life with them. And though he is upset that his parents have died, he finds he does not grieve like the others fore he never really knew them. Thus, he does not hate Darragh for the mistake but he does not love him like an Uncle either.
He has a strong relationship with his cousins, Cameo, Aislinn and Kegan - seeing them as the siblings he never had. Though, they tend to be the only ones around his age that he socializes with. He is scared of the other races. He is also scared of other faerie families, believing that they will judge him for his name. That they will scorn him because of te mistake that his Uncle made.
Like all water faeries, he is often calm and collected. Often agreeing with his cousins just so he doesn't cause an argument. He absolutely detests fighting of any kind. Being a firm believer in pacifism. War and violence is what caused the death of his parents and he does not want anyone else to go through what he has gone through. Growing up without your parents.
