For the first time in a long time the eldest of the Redferne girls felt genuine excitement. It was too the point where she actually wore a strange small smile that was something uncommonly seen on the face of this particular witch. When her older brother, Liam, came to her and told her about the programme the Council had set up and said how he reckoned it would be great for her, Aria was at first dismissive until she found out what the programme actually involved. Training to become an enforcer.
The Enforcers were Britain’s law enforcement. Aria liked to think of them as a seven man army or, perhaps maybe the Council’s personal hounds. They were the ones that were dispatched to deal with any suspicious behaviour, any riots and reported crimes and bring the culprits in question before the Council. Recently, the Council had opened up four positions where chosen candidates would be taken in and trained to become a future enforcer. Aria couldn’t think of something more perfect for her. She had been considering career paths lately. What she wanted to do with her life. She couldn’t imagine working in a shop or bar. She didn’t feel cut out for teaching…but becoming an enforcer? Her heart was already set on it. It was probably a mistake on her behalf- she should know better than to get attached to an idea but she couldn’t help it. Now that she knew it was an option she was determined to one day become an enforcer. If not this time, next time they opened applications and if they never planned on opening them again? She’d make them fucking notice her skills and abilities and they'd have to make an exception and accept her.
So, with that, Aria had filled out the application form and had just handed it in at the Academy’s reception so it could be sent off to the Council for reviewing. Already, she felt a buzzing inside of her. She had a new sense of purpose. Something to do with her life and she was ecstatic about it.

Alex wasn't sure if this had been such a good idea. Just before, he'd handed in an application to be considered for the Enforcer training programme and now he dawdled by the corridor just outside, mulling over his perhaps rash and hasty decision. He idly scratched behind his ear as he loitered about outside and was choosing now - after he'd already handed his request in - to think if this was the correct thing to do for himself.
Alex had actually heard that same morning that the Enforcers were taking trainees under their wing and he'd maybe gotten a bit overexcited and recklessly had penned the application without a second thought. What was there to think through? He wasn't ignorant to the fact that he honed notable skill in his area of elemental control. If he wanted to get cocky he might even boast that he was one of the best Northvale had to offer in their student ranks. When he'd heard through another student about the Enforcers looking for a few from the next generation something had clicked and said 'that's for me'. But now, of course, he was in doubt.
The young fae had spotted one of the Enforcers once or twice while he'd been around in Northvale and just... they were so cool with their uniform, their serious, stern and intimidating vibe and their sheer power. They were the law. And they were just so hot. Alex didn't fit in with that image they portrayed. If anything, Alex was a bit of a joke, at least, that was how he felt most people took him. He couldn't do intimidating - he was a weed! A weed with a knack for air and weather control but still a weed.
The brown-eyed Spaniard chewed his thumbnail mindlessly and looked up from his suede creepers. He looked back down. The back up, doing a double take. There was Aria ambling down the reception hall and looking almost a bit brighter. It was uncommon for him to run into Aria as it was, let alone down here and away from the classrooms. Alex knitted his slender eyebrows together and tilted his head. "Arry-Pie? Fancy seein' you here." A smile worked its way over his lips regardless of his nervous mood. "How y'doin' chica? Y'look... good this mornin'~"
