To say that today had been exhausting was an understatement. With the weather warming up, the kids were rowdier than ever, unable to focus on anything but their intense desire to go outside and play. Then Emmanuel had stepped in for his friend who ran the aftercare program, so it was four-thirty before he was able to get back home and get ready for his parent-teacher conferences that night at six. To top it all off, summer was ringing in with brutal humidity that had Em's leg in the worst shape it had been all year.
Dante had actually been helpful and made dinner while he showered and changed. The shower helped his leg a bit, but he opted to wear his knee brace anyway and was limping heavily by the time he came downstairs to hurry through dinner. His brother, of course, noticed and wordlessly passed him his cane on the way out the door. Emmanuel hated using it, but he hated falling on his face even more.
Five conferences per night, and he'd gotten through the first four relatively painlessly. Noah was behind in reading, and his parents were a little affronted at being told about it. The last one would be fairly easy, and Emmanuel smiled when he spotted the name on his roster.

He called out to Kate's mother on her way out, "Would you mind sending the next parent in for me?" Em held up his cane sheepishly. "I'm a bit lame today."

With Northvale Academy’s students officially having broken up for summer that left Liam not as busy as he was before. Although, he still dealt with students that decided to stay on school grounds instead of home it still wasn’t the same as teaching classes and having weekly board meetings. The Council also didn’t seem as onto him as Sorcerer representative but then again, they had no reason to be. No sorcerer had stepped too far out of line enough for the Council to care so the over report he gave at the beginning of every month was all he needed to give. He also cared for Asher and/or Elodie some days and in Asher’s case home-schooled him, he continued to help Pandora with her Curses and other areas of magic when/if she asked him as well as…other stuff but overall? It wasn’t that much. He definitely needed to find something else that he could spend his free time doing something that he loved to do. A hobby. What however? He hadn’t the foggiest.
For the meantime, Liam currently was currently attending Elodie’s student-teacher conference to see what progress she had been making in school. Her teacher, Emmanuel Parsons, seemed like a decent man and Liam had spoken to him a number of times most only briefly when he picked his little sister up from school…but last month he had had an interesting conversation which had led to him finding out the reason behind the water fae’s limp. The outcome of a nasty Skin Cauterizing curse. Carne Urere. A curse which acts by essentially burning its way through the flesh of the victim and eating through the tissue and in most cases, the victim of the curse would be left limbless but in Emmanuel’s case because he is a water faery he could heal himself. That, plus any extra healing that was attempted caused skin to heal over the curse whilst it still festered and burned the tissue beneath and currently his leg was going through a vicious circle of being cauterized on the inside, healing just enough before the curse did the same damage over and over again. It sounded awful and incredibly painful but there was also no quick and easy fix to the problem. The procedure that would have to be performed was very complex, would hurt severely, had many risks because if a mistake was made it could increase the curse’s power and make it more aggressive- which might end up actually succeeding in taking his leg. So, if the procedure was to ever be performed the sorcerer- because it would have to be a sorcerer- had to not only be powerful enough but also know what they were doing. Liam pitied the man.
When a mother- Kate, was her name her learned when talking to her briefly before she went in for her child’s conference- came out and told him Emmanuel asked her to send him in, he stood up and walked into the room before approaching the desk where Emmanuel sat “Mr Parsons” He held out his hand to give the water fae a strong and firm handshake. A part of him reminded himself that a few weeks back the water fae had told him to call him by his first name but at a semi-formal meeting such as this it felt impolite, so until told again Liam was sticking with formalities. “How are you this evening?” He asked.
