jonah levi redferne
Hey, my name is... Jonah Levi Redferne.
But most call me... Jonah, Joe - anything. Feel free.
If you want to, you can label me... heterosexual.
I've been on this earth for... 15 years.
Which means I was born... 26th January, 1998.
I'm a... student.
And only a... second year.
My eyes are... blue/green.
And my hair is... dark brown or black, depending on the lighting.
One could say... Jonah is what some might call a good-looking young man, although he really doesn't care. He has dark hair that looks either deep brown or ebony black, depending on the lighting, and cool, ice blue eyes. He always has a knowing sort of expression in his eyes, like he knows more about you than you want him to, although this isn't always the case. He rarely smiles properly, but when he does, he genuinely means it.
When he walks, there's no external display of emotion in his steps. Whereas some might have a merry spring in their step, Jonah's steps remain as just a means to get from place to place, not as a means to show others how he is feeling.
I'm normally seen wearing... casual clothes, if possible. Jonah really hates having to dress up for anything, and so will often be seen wearing jeans and a t-shirt, just like many other boys his age.
And I supposedly look like... Logan Lerman.
All round, I'm... Jonah can come across as what some might call a relatively cold and 'rude' young man. He's quiet, and doesn't like talking to people, even if they have spoken to him. He merely says what he thinks. At times, this can be good, as this means that he is blatantly honest. However, he will sometimes speak without thinking first, offending others and pushing them away from him. It's not that he does this on purpose, it's just that he doesn't think before he speaks sometimes.
He doesn't really know how to respond to people who show concern toward him either, as he really isn't used to being treated pleasantly. Normally he'll respond quite harshly, but this isn't anything personal. It's just the fact that he's a bit unsure how to react to being treated pleasantly. Sometimes, he'll actually welcome it and be pleasant in response, but this is quite rare.
However, once Jonah knows you and trusts you well enough, he's the sweetest boy that you could ever hope to meet. It's just getting to meet that side of him that's the tricky bit. But once that happens, he's kind, loving, and extremely loyal. It could be said that he's loyal to the point of risking his life to protect someone he cares about. Be warned, though. If you lose his trust in anyway, you lose it forever. He doesn't believe in second chances.
When Jonah is angry, it'll be hard to tell unless you know him well enough. Because, if you don't know him, he can appear angry all the time. But it's only really possible if you're close enough to him to tell if he's angry, and even then, it's unbelievably difficult to tell exactly how angry he is. Watch his magic if you want to tell how angry he is, for it'll reflect in the way that he uses his magic.
Jonah is, on the whole, just a sweet kid who's a bit misguided and misunderstood. He has a cold exterior to try and scare off people who might try to hurt him, but once he knows that he won't be hurt, no matter how long this may take him, he's a nice lad. He has trust problems, as well, but sometimes it's good to be wary, right?
I'm in love with... his family, the smell of freshly cut grass, books, animals and charms.
Though I detest... water, the idea of his wand breaking or being stolen, his parents, unnecessary cruelty, weakness.
But my best assets are... Jonah is a level-headed, logical person, able to remain calm easily under pressure. He's also a kind, sweet person, under all those layers of ice.
However my worst... Jonah hates seeing people weak or hurt in any way, and is often quite sensitive to this, although not showing it externally. He's also quite cold and blunt to people that he doesn't know.
And I dream of... becoming a more powerful wizard.
My life story... Jonah had the misfortune of being born into the Redferne clan, to James and Amelia Redferne. These two people were cold and heartless, so it seemed. For the first eight years of Jonah's life, though, they generally left him alone. He wondered why there were bruises on his older brothers' and sister's bodies, but he didn't question it. They never seemed to want to talk about them, anyway, not even in private.
But shortly after the boy turned eight, things changed dramatically for him. That was the time of the first beating. He changed dramatically because of this. Instead of being the bright, smiling, funny little boy that he once was, he became quiet, withdrawn, cold, much like his older siblings. It was as if all the emotions had been beaten straight out of him. Which, really, they had. Suddenly, Jonah didn't put their cuts and bruises down to simple trips down the stairs or spells gone wrong. He knew that it was something far more sinister than that.
For years, it went on. Jonah didn't have the ability or will to do anything about it because, even if he could, he feared that he'd either get killed for interfering or have his siblings killed although this may have been a slightly irrational fear.
But Northvale changed everything. Jonah was shipped off to one of the best schools for the supernatural in the world, and their, he had his first taste of real freedom. He wasn't living in fear of Jame and Amelia any more. Well, not during term, anyway. And, to be honest, he didn't really know what to do with all his new-freedom.
Whilst there, however, he received the news that the youngest child of the Redferne clan, his little sister Elodie, had been given her first beating. From then on, the tables turned entirely. James, Amelia, and the rest of the Redferne Clan (except for Jonah and his seven siblings) had mysteriously died in a seemingly accidental house fire. Jonah knew otherwise, of course. That the fire wasn't an accident, that it'd been arranged by his older brothers. But at least The Council didn't pry...
And from there, that was it. Jonah was now completely free of the Redfernes and their horrible ways. But he wasn't free of the memories that came from it. And so, to this very day, Jonah has detached himself from everyone (apart from his siblings, of course). It would take a hell of a lot to get him to trust some one now. But does he really have to trust anyone? He hopes not.
