The Borea's ice-blue eyes roamed the street that she was on with what may have looked like almost malicious intent. However, it was just a steely determination. A determination not to go hungry again tonight, not to have to wander the streets a ridiculous o' clock looking for drunken men in need of a good time. Not that she couldn't give that to them, of course, but she'd much rather not. It was a scary business, a terrifying place, too. No matter how well the woman hid it, having no shelter, no home, no protection scared her. She didn't know what could possibly happen to her.
It was a good thing she had her wits about her then, wasn't it? It was good that he wasn't like most of the clueless teenagers that left home. She knew what she was doing - she had known for a long time. She knew who was safe and who wasn't. She knew how to handle herself in the unpleasant face of unsolicited violence and those who dealt it to her. She knew how to look after herself. That had to count for something, or else she would have died a long time ago. She was safe on the streets, although she felt just the opposite.
With a knife positioned in a near invisible pocket in her leather pants (for safety's sake), she purposefully clicked open her violin case and admired the pine instrument for just a moment. She'd managed to snatch it from her home before she'd left. It'd been hurried, so she'd forgotten to grab her rosin as well. But that'd been okay - she'd managed to get some at a fairly reasonable price from the music store. Anyway, all she really needed was her instrument. That was her breadwinner. Well, her main breadwinner. She removed it carefully from her case, a slow, small smile forming on her lips. It was just something about it that made her instantly happier. Maybe it was because it meant money, food and life itself now. It meant everything.
She propped her violin case open on the ground, on the off chance anyone wanted to throw any money inside. Then, she straightened up, took a deep breath, and began to play. The sound that came from the vibrating strings instantly soothed her whirlwind of thoughts, and before she even knew what was going on, she was beginning to dance, kicking her leg slowly and gracefully into the air. Her small smile turned into a grin, and her eyes closed. Even though having nothing was a bit of a liberty, she adored this way of earning money. Which was why she didn't get a job. This was far too fun.
