I laughed when he asked me about why I was there. "I guess you could say that... I really actually wanted to find out more about her people... and the things that killed her... My face dropped a bit. I would tell him about it sometime later maybe, if we became friends.

"Oh, okay," I told him a little disappointed. "You're welcome on my porch anytime. I told him hoping he would take me up on my offer. I grabbed the can he had left. I waved at him before he took off. "Yeah I think we will see eachother around."

Over the next week, Emmanuel's jogging route had managed to loop past Houston's house every day, and he caught himself slowing down as he went past, hoping he'd be outside again. He ended up on the porch again a few times, sometimes under the guise of needing to rest and soon for no reason at all. It was nice, he decided, having a real friend again. They'd chatted about Dante and work- he'd even managed to hear a bit about Houston's mysterious wife.

After two weeks of this, Em overslept and had to skip his morning jog so he could make it to work. On his way to school, he texted Houston Ran late today. You free tonight?

He showed up on Houston's porch just after five with a case of beer in his hand, suddenly realizing that this was the first time he'd ever been to this house with a shirt on. Em chuckled to himself and rang the bell, feeling oddly...anxious. Which was stupid, 'cause this was just Houston and they were just two dudes (one of whom had had a wife) drinking beer and hanging out.

We all have those days where we just need to sit back and relax. Well, for me this was one of those days. I was happy though to see the text from Em asking to come over. I texted him back immediately saying that it was totally cool. It would be the first time someone had come over since I moved here. When, I arrived home after a long day of listening to kids problems. I noticed that my house was a bit on the messy side. Not anything that would bother anyone. Just enough to bother my wife...

Somedays I wonder if she's watching. Not that I believe in heaven... because I totally do. I just wonder if she would be there looking down making sure I was alright. I organized my coffee table a bit making the papers in neat piles instead of the mess they were in.

I basically ran to the door when I heard the doorbell. I opened it as fast I could to see Em there with a case a beer. "Welcome to my humble abode. You can set the beer down there, I told him pointing to the slightly more organized coffee table in my living room. I can give you a tour it isn't much, but I'm pretty proud of it." I showed him my living room. It wasn't much to look at just a couch and a tv. I don't spend much time in here." Then I led him to my kitchen it was large, even though it was just me living there and I didn't plan on having many guests. I then showed him my bathroom. "My favorite part is the shower curtain. It's the same one they have in Big Bang Theory." I told him not even knowing if he knew the show. Next up was my bedroom. I felt a bit nervous showing him in there. It was weird like I needed to get his approval on it. "That's my bedroom." Up next was my favorite part. My game room. It had every game I had collected since I was a kid. "Now, this is my favorite room in the house." I gave him a large smile, hoping he would like it.

Emmanuel followed Houston inside, toeing out of his shoes as he went. Setting the beer down, he mused, "I figured I've been drinkin' your beer the past two weeks, I might as well resupply you."

Following Houston about the house with a vaguely amused smirk, Emmanuel was starting to get a picture of the undeniable nerdiness that was his new friend. In the doorway to the game room, he leaned against the door frame and crossed his arms over his chest, taking it all in with a poorly restrained grin.

"This is freaking awesome, man," he said. He wandered into the room, surveying the game selection and grabbed one off the shelf. "Sweet, Marvel Ultimate Alliance? We're so playing this."

I laughed at Em's comment. "It's okay, it'd probably go to waste, if we weren't drinking it." I liked how Em was reacting to my house. He seemed to like it. It made me grin wider. I loved the game he picked out. Superheroes were like my favorite. "Okay, but I wanna be Ironman." I laughed grabbing out my X-Box 360, hooking it up to my tv. I threw the game in and grabbed my controller throwing him the other. I sat down on the couch I had sitting in front of it patting it telling him to come sit by me, not that there was anywhere else to sit. There was a few beanbag chairs but I figured that wouldn't be fun for Em because of his knee. "Oh I'll go grab that beer... You hungry? I have too much food for one person." I waited for his answer before running off to grab the beer.
