Red. White. Black. Gold. Red. White. Black. Gold. Threads were a difficult ting to weave, especially in to hair. The second year had discovered that the hard way, staring at her soft, sunset orange hair in the mirror for the past half an hour. She held the four threads in the palm of her hand, and she glanced down at them in concern, her front teeth gently resting on her lower lip. Call her childish and stupid, but she'd always wanted to do this, or have s friend who would do it for her. No, scratch that. She just wanted a friend in general. But those would come in time - she was still fairly new to Northvale.
She gingerly started folding her hair into a thick braid, carefully incorporating the threads into the style as she worked her way though the sections of hair. It was hard doing it herself, and she probably looked like the vainest siren in the whole little group judging by how long she'd been checking out her hair in the mirror. But that didn't matter; it was working for now. Streaks of red, black, white and gold were working their way into her hair, mingling with the strands in her plait to create a pretty, unique style. It took her a while, and a whole lot of patience, but she finally finished.
She sighed contentedly, grinning at her reflection. She was proud of herself for that, really proud of herself. She had clumsy fingers at the best of times, and the fact that the threads were quite small hadn't helped her any. But that hadn't been so much of a problem, so it seemed. Well, she' done it, anyway. And it looked really good. She was pleased with it, and with good reason, too. The siren sat at her vanity for just a moment longer, admiring the glossy braid in the mirror. It was beautiful. She didn't really think that she'd ever been more proud of herself.

Kalliope ran a hand through her red hair. She was almost sprinting back to her tower. Her long legs, barely covered by her dress, carried her easily. The girl was fit. She went running often to keep herself in shape and looking as good as possible. She needed to get back to her dorm before Miss Sicarus found out she was absent the night. Again. A soft smirk was on her lips. She'd been down at the Gateway and it wasn't long before the bartender put a drink in front of her. From a rather handsome gentleman. It took two more drinks before she relunctantly went over to him. And from then? Well. It only took an hour before she was back at his. He hadn't been a bad fuck either.
Then she heard her name. Spoke sternly. Kalliope turned to see the Governess of the school. Shit. The young Siren tried to put on her best sheepish smile but, of course, the woman was having none of it. "Miss Russus, my office. 7am tomorrow" the woman spoke before leaving. Heels echoing down the corridor. Kalliope rolled her eyes as she turned and went back to her dorm. The woman had gotten worse since someone had played a prank. Bubblewrapping her entire office? Having a chair that bites your arse when you sit down? Rumour had it that it'd been a werewolf. But she'd heard a different story. That it had been from a certain Sorceress. The Siren rolled her eyes. That blonde was going to get herself expelled.
Finally reaching her tower, she stepped in and her eyes noticed her reflection in one of the many mirrors. A frown settled on her lips. She was still rather beautiful, yes, but she needed to change. And fix her make-up. Tearing her eyes from her reflection, she went to go to her dorm but her eyes caught a figure. A very familiar figure. Her baby sister admiring herself. A soft laugh left her as she bounced over to the girl. Wrapping her arms around her sister's frame, she leant down to rest her head on the girl's shoulder. Looking in the mirror also. "Well. You don't look bad but I'm definitely more beautiful. Sorry Aura" she told her sister. Grinning at their reflections in the mirror.

She stared at the threads in her hair, nibbling her lip slightly worriedly. She thought it looked absolutely fine, but what would other people think? What if she secretly looked like a troll person? Oh, god, why was she getting so worked up about this? It wasn't really like it mattered any. And she knew that, it was just... her looks meant an awful lot to her. If they were ever to fade, which she knew they would eventually, she wasn't quite sure what she'd do. It was just that bad. Maybe she'd mature about it as she aged, but right now, the thought of losing her looks really did worry her sometimes.
Just then, a pair of arms snaked around her shoulders. She was just about ready to punch whatever visitor that would be stupid enough to do that in the face, before she saw the red hair and felt the pressure of the head on her shoulder. Only one person would try that. Kalliope. She visibly relaxed, her blue eyes rolling like marbles. "God, Kallie," the siren scolded half-heartedly. "Don't you have anything better to do than scare the crap out of your sisters?" There was a small grin on her face, though, just to show that she didn't really mean it.
She rolled her eyes again at the fourth year's vain comment. Of course. Of course Kalliope was more beautiful. With Aurelia, she hadn't grown into beauty yet, and was stuck at the ridiculous "cute" stage, so Derica called it. She wondered how long it would be until she would grow into her looks. "Thank you for the input that I don't remember asking for." She said, putting the hairbrush down on the vanity table and leaning back into her sister's hug. She did love Kalliope really - she was just a little bit annoying from time to time.

God her little sister was cute. Kalliope could see the way in witch she was looking at the mirror. Wondering if the strands of colour she had threading into her hair were aesthetically pleasing. Vanity was so hard-wired into Sirens that Kalliope didn't even see this as a bad thing. She would have done it herself. As her arms snaked around her sister, she noticed her tense slightly but she soon relaxed when she saw exactly who it was who'd perched their head on her shoulder. Of course, Aurelia wouldn't have allowed anyone to do that to her. Except from Kallie. Kallie was the exception.
She grinned at her sisters words. Did she have anything better to do? Well, yes. She needed to shower, and to change, and fix her bedraggled just-fucked hair. But.. It could wait. She enjoyed the time she spent with her sister. "Well, duh, I always have something wonderful to go and do" she told her sister, grinning slightly "But, scaring the crap out of my sisters is fun and I rather enjoy it. So, I will proceed to scare the crap out of you". Kalliope enjoyed teasing and annoying her youngest sister, but it was always out of love. Just as she knew the slight scold had been a joke from the small smile on her sister's face.
Noticing the roll of her eyes, Kalliope gave a mock shocked expression. It was common knowledge that Kallie was the most beautiful of the Russus sisters, at least, she was in her opinion. Aura was too cute to be beautiful. Aithne was just.. well, a wannabe her. And Derica? Well. Derica didn't know how to let her hair down and have fun. So, all in all, Kalliope knew that she was the best of all the sisters.
Upon her youngest sister's words, Kalliope laughed. A soft, musical sound that always made guys turn their heads. "You're very welcome, sister of mine" she told her. As the younger girl leaned back into the hug, Kalliope's arms tightened around her. Her face softened slightly as she became more serious toward her sister. "You look absolutely stunning, Aurelia, you really do. You're going to be the most beautiful woman in the world one of these days" she told her. Although Kalliope saw nearly every girl as a threat, she had love for her youngest sister and would do anything for her. She was the one girl that Kalliope could actually stand to be around.

Aurelia did love her sister really. Don't get her wrong. In fact, Kalliope was the one out of her tree siblings that seemed to care about her the most. She loved the three of them equally, but there was just something about Kalliope that made her a lot easier to talk to about some things than the other two. Aithne was more her age, but so dead set on getting revenge for the deaths of their parents that she was hard to talk to about serious matters, like love and school and pressure. Derica was too old to understand. At least, she was in Aurelia's mind. And yes, Kalliope was a reckless, spur-of-the-moment kind of girl (just as much as Aithne was in fact - no, more so), but at least it was obvious that Kallie cared. And Aura reciprocated that.
Of course, it didn't come without a price. Moments like now, for example, where the siren was just considering throwing the hairbrush in her hand at her older sister's head just to shut her up, even if it was only for a second. "Kaaal, I appreciate the effort," the girl said slowly, peering at her sister's smug face in the mirror, "But that question was rhetorical, I'm afraid." It was just the whole situation of being given an opinion when one was not wanted, something that Kalliope had obviously earned her degree in. It was remarkable how many times Aurelia had heard an undue opinion from the elder girl.
Of course, for now Aurelia could admit that Kalliope was the most beautiful of the Russus sisters. She was quite happy to admit that. The other two were just as beautiful, but in different ways. Derica was responsible, and had a kind soul, as well as a lovely face. Aithne had a rebellious flame. But Kalliope was a strange mixture of both Derica's beauty and Aithne's fire. In fact, Kalliope had been where Aithne's attitude had come from - you could just see the similarities. But still, being told by Kalliope herself that she was going to be the most beautiful woman in the world someday made Aurelia intensely happy. She'd take second, third, fourth behind her sisters. But most? That was such a lovely feeling.
"Even more beautiful than you?" the second year teased lightly as a grin split her lips. A wide, happy, loving grin, Kallie really did know what to say at whichever time, even though she didn't show it often. And Aurelia loved that side f her, no matter how rarely she saw it.
