Cain just laid there, thinking of how different he and his siblings really had grown up. Then when the boy asked him to call him Andrew, this made Cain smile to himself, in an angle where Andrew couldn't see. "Alright then, Andrew it is. However, I cannot just let you call me Cain since I am your teacher. However, I will allow you just this once, to call me Sir Cain despite the fact that I do not really like that name since it makes me feel older than my brother Liam." He said as he sat up. Cain took a few moments to think if he ought to share his reason why Cain asked such a strange question. He should, then maybe he would get an honest answer after.
"The reason I asked you what it feels like to be a teenager is because when I was a teenager, Liam, Connor, and I had never gotten a chance to enjoy our teenage years. I'm sure you must have heard stories of how the eldest sons of the Redfernes were raised. It wasn't easy and it never did anything good when it came to sympathizing with others. We were taught to be strong, unwaving, unemotional, and ruthless. To use any means necessary to achieve our goals. The punishments were hell and having to show that we were strong in front of our five other siblings took its toll on us every night." Cain said and recalled all the torture he and his siblings had gone through. It really wasn't pretty. ††††Clothes:†††† Click Here‡‡‡‡Notes:‡‡‡‡ Shouldn't You Be In Class..??¤¤¤¤Tagged:¤¤¤¤ Andy Locke

Sir Cain? Sounds like knight from the middle ages! Not that Andrew had any qualms about it, considering that he enjoyed feeling like a knight secretly. And he'd just woken up from a dream involving him as one...riding a mermaid unicorn called "Princess Sparkles".
It was more than a surprised to hear the story from Cain - Sir Cain...haha, yeah right, now he was Cain to Andrew forevermore - like that. To Andrew, everything that was bad needed to be buried. Occasionally examined and dealt with, or avenged, but generally left alone. And certainly not to me talked about with a random kid you barely even know!
In a way, it was brave. Andrew couldn't even conceive the notion of talking about his parents' death, or Carter, but Cain...just said it. So plainly. So easily. He was almost jealous. Almost. "N-no, I hadn't heard about it," at least not in detail. People had hinted about the Redferne's bad background, but always glided over it, considering him a child, or too unimportant to know. It wasn't really his business, anyway, so he hadn't asked.
But if Cain could be brave enough to speak of it, so could he, he decided. In attempt to avoid Cain seeing his face, he climbed up on the stage, facing the back, arms wide as if to accept the shadows that hid behind the curtains. Slowly, he let them fall to his sides. Then, quietly, almost inaudibly, he spoke. "When I was a kid, life was perfect. Best friend, annoying but good parents, the whole deal. Then, one day I got home, and my parents were dead bloody on the floor. I ran out of the house in time to see it go up in flames. And my best friend disappeared." His words hung in the air.

Cain was a bit glad that at least someone didn't know of how they were treated. It wasn't pretty and it wasn't something he would have wanted the whole world to know and remember. Yes, he had a bad childhood but that shouldn't be the basis to judge their character and control. Cain learned the hard way that being strong for ones own gain would never last and would only make you bitter. He had a family to protect and family mattered so much to him. "Its good that you don't know much about it. You won't have nightmares of seeing other people in bad situations that would be like near death to humans. And if your wondering how I'm able to be this open to a person I barely know is because bottling it up would only cause me to feel sorry for myself. It's better to let it out rather than keep it to myself." Cain explained.
Cain watched as Andrew came on to the stage and faced the back, he could already tell that the boy had been through a lot as well. And when Andrew spoke, it only confirmed what Cain had thought. So he listened, knowing well that the boy needed someone he could talk to. "You have gone through life's challenge as well. Everyone does. I'm sorry to hear about your parents. And sorry even more about your friend. But someone once told me Things that get lost unintentionally have their strange ways of coming back. If your friend disappeared, I'm sure that time will come that he will return and tell you what had happened. Just don't lose hope."
Cain didn't know if he was helping but it was the only way he knew how to deal with such situations. Liam taught him that. ††††Clothes:†††† Click Here‡‡‡‡Notes:‡‡‡‡ Shouldn't You Be In Class..??¤¤¤¤Tagged:¤¤¤¤ Andy Locke

Interesting. Andrew always felt it safer to keep things bottled up. Not safer for him, per say, but safer for others. If the past were mentioned (Speak of the devil, and he may appear), and it were to catch up with him somehow, its aftereffects would spill out and hurt those around him. And the people here, though odd and sometimes a bit rude, were genuinely good overall. And didn't want their blood on his hands, ever.
Turning back to Cain, Andrew jumped down so that he was leaning against the side of the stage next to the man. Again, his voice was quiet, but more harsh than one could imagine could come out of such a kind mouth. "Don't bother with your concern in the last part. I will find Carter. There is no way I ever won't. Even if it kills me. I will. Find him." He spoke tersely, words coming out in short bursts.
Then his relaxed breathing out. "I don't know why I'm telling you all this. I never tell anyone," he laughed, but the sound was choppy and breathy, almost painful.

Cain already knew before Andrew could even say that he was going to find his friend. He would probably do the same... Well, if only Cain did have friends. "When I was your age, the people my age would be afraid of getting close to us. they feared our parents and how they might react if they found out that we were able to have friends. Liam, Connor, and I had barely managed to keep ourselves in one piece long enough to leave the house and never come back. I would definitely do what you are doing if I were in you place.I would never stop searching until I find him." Cain said as he sighed and looked up at the ceiling.
Then the boy laughed, wondering why he was able to even speak of his woe to someone he barely knew let alone a teacher. "They say that telling someone you barely knew makes it better when sharing a deep woe. Because they cannot judge. All they can do is encourage or discourage." ††††Clothes:†††† Click Here‡‡‡‡Notes:‡‡‡‡ Shouldn't You Be In Class..??¤¤¤¤Tagged:¤¤¤¤ Andy Locke

Huh. For a Redferne, this guy was really nice. And wise. And maybe worth confiding in. If he were brutally honest, the only time he had shared his story before today was when he drunk and angry. When the only one listening was a barkeep who'd heard a million stories just like it, and would both never tell it and probably forget it before the night was up. Yet, here Andrew was, spilling his darkest secrets to another person sober, and a teacher of all people.
Maybe it was because, when he got down to it, the guy was just like him. Bad history, making day-to-day life painful. Using something - teaching in his case, laughing it off in Andrew's - to distract him in order to keep on living. Striving for good now to make up for the darkness that lurked within.
"Maybe so. Huh, never thought of it like that," he half-smiled, feeling a bit better for it all. Not knowing what else to say, he stared up at the ceiling in a silence that seemed to blanket him in a peace he hadn't experienced in years.

Cain sighed and smiled a little... just this time. "There are a lot of things that we all tend to not think when we're all caught deep in our thoughts and emotions. That's the only thing that puts us at a disadvantage sometimes... that we forget to think more clearly when most of the every day activities remind us of our past that we would rather keep to ourselves." Cain said as he turned and placed a hand on Andrew's shoulder. "Don't worry about it. If you have your will, you will have your ways. If you don't give up, you'll get what you have been yearning for." he said and smiled just a little bit more.
Then he turned to the door, "When a door closes on you, a window opens. just be patient enough to wait for the opportunity to have a go at your plans. And learning how to execute them will help you achieve your goals as well. Find ways to locate your friend. It will help." he said. ††††Clothes:†††† Click Here‡‡‡‡Notes:‡‡‡‡ Shouldn't You Be In Class..??¤¤¤¤Tagged:¤¤¤¤ Andy Locke

So kind, so wise. To Andrew, this man seemed to be larger than he really was. It was an odd feeling, and a sad one. The last person that made him feel like that...was his father. His dead father. His bleeding father. His burnt-to-ashes father. His beloved father.
Suddenly choking up, he turned away. "Yeah, I will. That's-that's good advice. Thanks," he managed. It hurt, thinking of his father. Those bottled up feelings for so long that he'd let out, and the way Cain spoke...it was like a dam in his mind was lifted. He wouldn't cry. No way. He hadn't cried since before they died. He never cried when he found them, and he wouldn't cry now. Even if it hurt. And even if the kindest, wisest person he'd met was standing right there.

Cain felt calmer now. His frustration and irritation towards the rest of the population had depleted without him noticing it happening. Cain could sense that Andrew needed more than just talking. "There's another thing you can do to make you feel a little better... You can cry." he said as he took a deep breath. "Crying from time to time doesn't make you weak. It makes you realized that you can't hold everything for long. And crying now will make you feel a whole lot lighter inside. I promise." He said.
Cain didn't know why he was even promising such things, but he was confident that he was going to be able to comfort someone else that wasn't his family or himself. And if Andrew did cry, he would be the first Cain would be comforting because he knew how he felt and that his comfort would be sincere. ††††Clothes:†††† Click Here‡‡‡‡Notes:‡‡‡‡ Shouldn't You Be In Class..??¤¤¤¤Tagged:¤¤¤¤ Andy Locke

That dam in his mind? It finally erupted. Dark and light water flooded from it painfully, yet blissfully. Every stick that built it was destroyed, exposing the river to a town below, scared as that town might be, scared as the river might be, and terrified as that dam was.
At least, that's how it felt to Andrew. He'd like to think that he was a cool crier, like the movie stars, who could just drip tears without messing up their make up. But in reality, the opposite was true. Tears mingled with snot, and messy, childish sobs ripped from his chest. Like a child. Like a child he never was.
It was embarrassing, of course, crying like this in front of a grown man. But this wasn't just any random grown man: it was a man who reminded him of his father, and one that he had grown to respect and care about in a matter of minutes. How he had managed to worm his way into Andrew's heart was a mystery, but not one he needed to solve. At least not now. They'd have time to work it out later.
