Another long, stressful day of avoiding teachers, deadlines, and work in general. Mostly, this academy was stressful for Andrew. Who on earth came up with the crazy idea to put not only hormonal teenagers in one building, but mutated, magical, inhuman teenagers in one building? Certainly not him. All that wasn't much of his concern, though. Since he avoided both drama and work like the plague, his time here was easy enough. Albeit, stressful through osmosis. Just being near some of the psychos here was enough to give him a headache.
It was time to find a new hiding place, he decided. First was the art room...with Alex. Next was the dance hall, where he'd met Natesa. Today, it seemed, was the theater. Nice, quiet and open. And perhaps he'd meet someone interesting here as well. But preferably not. Today he was tired, and could use a good nap. People tended to ruin that.
The theater itself was splendid. Expansive, with long, white sound panels and hundreds of comfy, red audience seats. One of which, in the back, he'd elected to take his precious nap in. Lucky seat, it was! Number...C7. Lucky seat C7. Lucky... He dozed off before he could finish his thought.

Cain had wandered over to the theater hall to hide from hormonal students. If he had to listen to another set of blockheads asking him if he like going to the beach or if he enjoyed long walks under the moonlight, he was going to potion someone soon enough. He walked straight up to the stage and just placed his notebook and book on the floor of the stage and proceeding to lay down on the stage itself.
The silence of the theater hall was comforting. "How I wish classes would be this quiet. Then I wouldn't be this stressed at the end of the day."he spoke to himself as he pinched the bridge of his nose. Yes, it was stressing Cain so much that he had thought of quiet multiple times. But he knew couldn't just do such a thing. No, quitting is one of the words that Cain didn't have in his vocabulary along with fear and retreat. He was a Redferne and he took pride in that. ††††Clothes:†††† Click Here‡‡‡‡Notes:‡‡‡‡ Shouldn't You Be In Class..??¤¤¤¤Tagged:¤¤¤¤ Andy Locke

Andrew awoke with a start from a dream involving rainbow trees and mermaid-unicorns. "Yes, I want ride with you into the end of time, Princess Sparkles," he moaned aloud without realizing. Not loudly, but enough that when he realized it, he turned a deep shade of red.
He glanced around, praying that no one had heard him. At first, it seemed he had lucked out, that the place was empty. But then he realized what had awoken him in the first place (other than Princess Sparkles). One of the Redferne teachers - he didn't know the guy's first name - the potions master, was in the front, on the stage, talking to himself.
This was the worst thing for three reasons that flitted through Andrew's mind all at once: 1) He had overheard the most embarrassing scene of Andrew's life, bar none, 2) he was his teacher in a class he skipped frequently, which was going to come back to bite him in the butt, if Andrew knew anything about karma, and 3) the guy was a Redferne, which meant the following conversation would suck, no matter the topic.
Not sure what else to do or say, Andrew squeaked out an awkward, "Uh, hey, Mr. Redferne...?

Just as Cain finished his rant, he heard a moan from within the theater, he wasn't alone. However, Cain had to smirked when he heard the words Princess Sparkles being mentioned. Well, that is something you don't hear everyday. He sat up and saw that the other occupant of the theater was Andrew Locke, Sorcerer, fifth year. Cain had to take interest since the boy had skipped his class more times than Cain could count with his hands. And since he was entering his amusing mood, "I'm sure Princess Sparkles would like to ride with you as well, Mr. Locke." he said with a smirk. There were some students that Cain took interest upon since there were only a few who wouldn't run after him because of something.
His smirk stayed in his face when he noticed that the boy in question was now embarrassed and nearly mortified that someone else had heard him talk in his sleep of something that myst have been cute or heroic. "It's Professor Cain to you, Mr. Redferne is my brother. You know, your teacher in Curses and Hexes class that you seem to skip from as well as Potions." Cain wasn't being so hard. He didn't have the strength at the moment since he was tired out from running as fast as he could away from those hormonal monsters, a.k.a. his students. ††††Clothes:†††† Click Here‡‡‡‡Notes:‡‡‡‡ Shouldn't You Be In Class..??¤¤¤¤Tagged:¤¤¤¤ Andy Locke

Andrew was mortified. Not only had his teacher - Mr. Cain - heard his ridiculous dream comment, but he was making fun of it. How much more embarrassing could the situation get?
It wasn't as if he didn't deserve it, though. He had missed over a third of the term because of his laziness, not to mention the juvenile tack he'd left on said teacher's desk...not that anyone would remember that. Hopefully.
Before attending Northvale, Andrew would have told anyone that he had a pretty high self-esteem. Loved his sense of humor, his charming looks, his athletic ability, and reveled in the attention he received. But here, his looks were common, his humor a joke, he had no time for sports, and attention was sparse. In that sense, his world had been flipped upside down. It left him awkward and dysfunctional on a daily basis. He would never admit it, but the reasons for his skipping were to create a sense of home in him, and to give him time to breathe. The place was suffocating sometimes.
But the situation at hand was definitely suffocating for its own reasons. "R-right. Mr. Cain. Ha..aha," he tried laughing it off to maybe release the tension and help save him from awkwardness. He didn't want to start another fight like with Brent, but there was no way he was getting away with this easily.

Cain smirked, "Though I shouldn't condone you for skipping classes, I won't since I'm skipping my own right now..." he said and lost his smirk as he sighed. He laid back down on the floor and just stared up at the ceiling. "Sometimes I wish that I could be a student again, not having big responsibilities and not be an example to others... Enjoy your youth Mr. Locke... It'll be gone before you know it..." he said with a saddened tone. Cain never got to enjoy his youth since he was a Redferne. They were raised different then others and because of that, Liam, Cain, and Connor never got to be proper teenagers.
Cain was curious, he always was. "Mr. Locke, what is it like? Being a teenager? Humor me if you wish..." he asked, wanting to know what it was really like and not just seeing it around him. ††††Clothes:†††† Click Here‡‡‡‡Notes:‡‡‡‡ Shouldn't You Be In Class..??¤¤¤¤Tagged:¤¤¤¤ Andy Locke

Odd question for an odd scenario. A teacher and a student, both skipping class.
The question, though, made Andrew's nervous smile hard. What is it like to be a teenager? He would love to answer that question. Really. It's just that he wasn't nearly qualified. Ever since his parents' death and Carter's disappearance - he was just barely 16 then - he'd changed. Became an adult. Had to fend for himself, live in debauchery and lies, hide his feelings, and leave his childhood behind. So how could he answer?
But he couldn't tell that to his teacher, someone he barely knew. Rather, he answered from memory. "It's cool. Y'know, sports, girls, being stupid. Everything's about having fun." Had he been speaking these same words before everything had happened, a grin would have stretched from one of his ears to the other. As it was, his tone was wistful, and his grin was sad. It was a tell that he hoped the other man wouldn't pick up on.

Cain could tell instantly that it was a lie. He didn't know why the boy was lying but it must have been something that he does to everything. Cain may be cold but he wasn't stupid. He was far from that. So the best thing to do was pretend that he believed him, "I see... Being a teenager must indeed be fun... No heavy responsibilities, no rules to follow..." Cain said as he contemplated heavy in his mind. Did he really want to stay at Northvale and be a teacher? He loved potions but he wasn't so good when he was in one place for a long time. He needed to be out and about.
"Why do you skip classes, Mr. Locke? Isn't that the point of being in school?" Cain asked as he remained on the floor, not moving from where he had been laying down. He was just too tired. ††††Clothes:†††† Click Here‡‡‡‡Notes:‡‡‡‡ Shouldn't You Be In Class..??¤¤¤¤Tagged:¤¤¤¤ Andy Locke

Thinking beyond his own worries, Andrew had to wonder as to why his potions teacher, of all people would ask about teenagers. Maybe he was feeling old? No, it had to be more than that, since he was skipping class. Not the pushy type, Andrew would put that on the back burner. He'd find out eventually, of course, but maybe now wasn't the time.
"Yeah. Lots of fun." That, at least wasn't a lie. His time with Carter had been more fun anything else. And, if he was perfectly honest to himself, he was enjoying right now, too. Meeting new people, nice or obnoxious, getting drunk, learning some interesting things, it was a nice break. At least, a break from the insanity of death, loss, darkness, fighting, blood and his one-track thoughts of revenge and salvation.
...Carter. The longer he stayed here at Northvale, the further he felt he was from finding him. Back before, he wouldn't go anywhere, do anything, live even a second without think of him. Sometimes, he'd forget about his dear parents, but not Carter. Here, he would often go for hours without thinking of him. Spend time doing things selfishly for himself. It was ruining him. Outsiders might call it 'healing'. If that was the case, he didn't want to be healed.
"Andrew. Just call me Andrew. Mr. Locke sounds weird," he said offhandedly. Why did he skip? Another question he couldn't answer. So another lie. "I like it too much here. If I go to class, I'll graduate and have to leave," he answered wittily instead.
