To say that Bree was freaking out was probably the biggest understatement that a person could make. She would never be able to match it. No, her birthday couldn't possibly have been more perfect. How was she supposed to top that? He'd made sure that it was her best birthday ever, and now she feared that she wouldn't be able to do the same for him. And if she couldn't... well. That would just suck, to say the least.
She'd picked the roof a few weeks ago, just so that she could get it ready. She hadn't the faintest idea what to do with the space, though. There was no way that she would be able to make the roof of the school look as beautiful as the beach had been that evening. But she could damn sure try. And so, that was what she was going to do. Knowing her, she'd probably fail miserably. But she'd give it a hell of a try.
Fairy lights dimly lit the shrubbery around the door to the roof, casting a soft glow around the area. She'd lit a candle (no matter how much her mind told her not to), and placed it on a table that the Physics teacher kindly helped her to set up. The table was strategically placed next to the balcony, which stood over the beautiful views of the city lights and the rolling fields. Her mum had helped her cook. Not that Bree couldn't cook, there was just... a lot of dangerous stuff involved. Anyway. Bcck to there and then. Her guitar was propped up against a wall; she'd be using it later, hopefully. Taking up the main space, though, was an empty picnic blanket. Stargazing might have been simple. But... it was all she had.
Of course, it didn't compare to the beach. She wasn't satisfied with it. She wished she had more time, so that she could do more... but time was quickly ticking away.
She just hoped that he'd know to come to the roof. She'd told him to go to her dorm room. That she had a surprise for him there. He had no clue about the roof, she'd made sure of that. The surprise that was waiting for him at her dorm? Well, it was merely a letter, taped to her door. It was in an envelope, on which she'd printed his name in her best handwriting. The note, written on a piece of paper carefully torn from her song journal, merely said:
Ever seen the view from the roof before? ~B xox
It might have been irrational, but she was slightly scared that the note was a little ambiguous. She'd never actually said that it'd be on the roof, just asked him a question. It would be kind of awkward if it was misinterpreted. But it was a little late for that now. She couldn't afford to worry about it. It would all go okay, right? She hoped so, she really did. She sat, cross-legged, on the picnic blanket as she waited for him to arrive.

Ethan was super excited about a surprise coming from Bree. He wasn't sure what it was, but anything that had to do with her would be amazing because she was just simply awesome. He had patiently waited all day and finally went to her dorm where he found the note. It didn't tell him to go anywhere or anything, but it wasn't hard to figure out what she wanted to do. He played along. Practically running up to the roof that she had mentioned in the note. The smile on his face unable to leave as he pushed the door open and saw what was on it.
"Have I ever told you how perfect you are, Bebe?"
Ethan told her with a laugh as he looked around. He loved the lights, and the candles and everything. "Everything looks so amazing up here. Honestly. You didn't have to do anything special for me. I would have been fine with a movie on the couch. As long as you were in my arms." Eth told her with a laugh as he went over and wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her forehead before bending down and kissing her belly. "But this is even better." [/blockquote] Outfit ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ Clicky!Notes ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ --- Tagged ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ Breeee<3 Song ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ Just Give Me a Reason – Pink and Nate Ruess

The suspense was killing her. Really, it was. Maybe her mind was just drawing out the time because she was nervous. Maybe it was the type of thing that happened when you were bored. The ten minutes that had passed since she'd finished setting everything up felt like three hours. And all the while, she didn't move. She couldn't. She was really worried that she hadn't done enough. And that worry just kind of rooted her to the spot where she was sat.
As soon as she heard his foot steps on the way up, she couldn't help but let a small smile creep over her lips. She stood up quickly, biting her lip so as not to make the smile obvious. But she couldn't help it. It was probably still as visible as it could have possibly been. Sometimes, she hated how emotionally transparent she was. It didn't take a soul faerie to know how Bree was feeling. Unless, of course, she was depressed. She always tried to appear happy, even if she wasn't. But right now... she really was. There was a mix of emotions, actually, too many to list.
The door swung open, and she was greeted by his smiling face. Now, she really couldn't help it. All thoughts of trying to hide how good she was feeling all completely died when she saw that smile. Because, well... that was all it took. She'd known, right from the start, when she first saw that smile, that she was gone. She just couldn't stop herself, no matter how hard she may have tried. And now look at them. It was strange to think about how far they'd come.
She laughed shyly. Perfect. No. Perfect was what he'd done for her; this didn't even come close It was a school roof with lights. That was all. She couldn't shake the feeling that she could have done so much better. "Well, come on," she said gesturing around her with both of her arms. "It's no beach, that's for sure." No, she'd never match that. She wouldn't ever have been able to do something of that proportion.
She just... actually, she didn't even know what to say. That was one of, if not, the cutest thing that he'd ever said to her. It made her feel loved, appreciated. She smiled softly up at him, quite obviously touched. "Behave, you soppy thing." she teased him lightly. "You'll make me cry." She shook her head at his comment about watching a movie on the couch. He'd made her seventeenth birthday the best ever, So why couldn't she do the same. "I wanted to give you something that you'd remember, silly." she said, laughing sheepishly at what she though was a feeble attempt. "Did I do okay?"

The beach was nothing compared to this amazing set up. But Ethan knew Bree and he knew that she wouldn't think it was perfect. Nope. That was just Bree. He rolled his eyes at her. "Nope. It isn't the beach. But I like this way better."
Ethan told her and hoped she would actually listen to him. "Who's soppy? Not me, surely?" Ethan joked and kissed her again before wandering over to the roof's edge. It was beautiful. Ethan didn't even know Bree liked this sort of thing. Maybe he'd try to set up a time for them to get into a plane or something. It'd have to be after the baby came, but Ethan was sure Alex would watch the baby while they had a day out. "It's not hard to make you cry when you're pregnant you know. It's actually fairly easy. Hormones and the like. But seriously. This is definitely something I will remember." Ethan said as he looked at her from the roofs edge. This was going to be a day he dreampt about for a long time, because it was just simply perfect. "You did awesome." [/blockquote] Outfit ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ Clicky!Notes ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ --- Tagged ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ Breeee<3 Song ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ Just Give Me a Reason – Pink and Nate Ruess

She didn't really think that this compared at all to the beach, and was just worried that she hadn't done enough. She knew that she could have done so much more, had she the time and the imagination. But that wasn't what it was about. It wasn't about her trying to outdo what Ethan had done for her. It was about them celebrating his birthday. Note the word his. This was nothing to do with her at all. So, although she still felt awful about how badly she thought she'd done, she tried t push those thoughts away, biting back a smile when he reassured her how nice it was. It was okay, she guessed. Adequate. But not enough.
She laughed, shaking her head. The words 'soppy' and 'Ethan' were pretty much simultaneous, but who said that Bree minded? She could be fairly soppy if she wanted from time to time. Couldn't everyone? Besides, it was just one of the many things that she loved about the boy. She couldn't even help it. "C'mon, I never said it was a bad thing, did I?" she teased him lightly, before he kissed her. She might have insinuated it, but never said it.
She'd forgotten about the view. It boosted her opinion about this by about one percent, what with it being the reason she chose the roof in the first place. She loved the roof, she really did; wasn't as good as the beach, but she really did love it. Her smile widened slightly. "I have to admit, though," she said softly, "I like this about it. The view, I mean." She gestured out toward the views. The rolling fields rolled for miles, and the distant city lights blazed like candles against the dark sky. It was gorgeous, even she couldn't deny that.
Ugh, God, did she know about hormones. They were just full tilt, pretty much all the time. But right now, they weren't having any effect on Bree or what she was saying. Or maybe they were, but nyeh. All they were doing was heightening the happiness she currently felt. All they did was intensify emotions, they weren't there for much. "Shut up," she chuckled. "You know what I was trying to say."
Hearing him say that actually lifted some kind of worry in her. That was the idea of tonight, that he would remember this. She didn't want it to be just another night at home together, no matter how much she loved those. She wanted this to be special, and y the sounds of things... it'd meant a lot. Which really... wow. It made her feel even better than she already did. "Thank you. I tried." she snickered lightly. Tried. Hell, yes, had she tred. She was certain she'd failed. But trying was good.

No. She did not say it was a bad thing, which was good because if she had thought it was a bad thing, then Ethan would have been dumped a long ass time ago. Ethan and Bree were perfect for each other because they loved the sappiness along with the romantic and the fun and the music even. They had so many things in common with one another... they couldn't help but have fallen in love. Ethan love Bree more than anything. The only person in the world that would challenge that would be their soon to be baby boy, Aiden.
"I think the look off the roof is the second most beautiful sight on the roof right now. The first is, of course. You."
Ethan told her with a bright smile. It wasn't hard to realize Bree had self esteem issues. Ethan just decided to take his knowledge of that, and compliment her appearance as often as he possible could. "I love you, Bebe. So much." [/blockquote] Outfit ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ Clicky!Notes ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ --- Tagged ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ Breeee<3 Song ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ ✩ Just Give Me a Reason – Pink and Nate Ruess

She didn't really know how things could have gone so well. It was crazy. Come on, she was involved. Bree Oceanus, walking disaster. That was pretty much her in a sentence. Walking disaster. As stupid as it probably was, she just... didn't feel like anything she could do was enough, no matter how easily pleased the person that she was doing something for was. It was probably one of her biggest flaws, out of the many that she had. That was just... life. It was all okay.
She kind of accidentally flailed a little then. Noooo. That wasn't right! She was anxious enough as it was without Ethan being cute about her general failure as a living entity. Well, maybe he didn't view it as failure. But still! She did! She bit down on her lip, although a grin was forming on her face. No matter how much she disbelieved and hated compliments, it was just something in it that told her that it was the truth, that he did think she was beautiful, even if she didn't. But still. It wasn't fair.
"Well, technically," she began, pushing a loose curl of her hair behind her ear, "The view isn't on the roof, it's down there. Sooo that means I win the most beautiful contest by default." She stuck her tongue out at him with a light laugh. She couldn't help it, she wasn't the most beautiful of the two. Might as well make light of the situation. "I know you do. And, in case it wasn't already obvious, I love you too." Heck yes she did. Probably more than anything in the world. As awfully corny and sappy as that probably sounded.

Ethan laughed at her logic. Okay. He had to give her that. But it didn't matter because he was pretty positive that he knew she was the most beautiful thing on the planet. So he knew he needed to, of course, tell her that because he had a strange feeling she was just trying to come up with reasons to not think she was more beautiful than something else. "Fine. You're more beautiful than anything on the entire planet. Ever." Ethan told her, not caring in the slightest that he was exceedingly sappy tonight because, hello. It was his birthday and he wanted to be.
Faking surprise, Ethan gasped and had a look of shock on his face. "You love me?! Since when?!" Ethan teased her because he could. He didn't think there was a way anyone would be able to say she didn't love him after what she had done for his birthday.

Sure, it might have been a little sassy, and yes, it was uncalled for. He was trying (and succeeding) to be adorable, for god's sake. But she couldn't help it. She was just stating a fact. Besides, there was no way that she was more beautiful than anything else here. That just wasn't right; she refused to believe that, because it wasn't true. She would believe it when she saw it for herself. Which would, most probably, be never. As pessimistic and horrible as that sounded. But that wasn't the most important thing in life, anyway.
Okay, and that just wasn't fair. There was no way she could get around that one. Which wasn't right. No, not right at all. She needed an opportunity to be sassy again, merely because it was fun. She didn't really get to do it often. Just in the company of her friends. Oh, and Eth, of course. Because, come on... that was what each one loved about the other. the fact that they weren't only boyfriend and girlfriend, but they were also best friends, too. That was what she loved about their relationship, anyway. "Uh! Not fair!" she half whined, half giggled. "How am I supposed to come back at that one?"
Well. She guessed that she asked for that sarcasm, really. But come on. That wasn't fair, either. He knew full well that he loved him. She couldn't help but laugh, though. It was just... funny to her how the tables had turned from her being sarcastic to him doing it about ten times better. Or worse. She didn't really know. "Oh, shut up," she snickered. "You know what I mean." At least, she hoped he did. Because there was no real way to put into words how much she loved him, how much she loved this moment right here.

Ethan was pretty sure his past time was beginning to become teasing Bree. He loved it almost as much as he loved her. The face she made when he was teasing her. The smile on her face... everything was perfect and wonderful when she was smiling. He wanted to keep that smile on her face for the rest of her life, and he was going to do his best to try. "You're not supposed to come back with anything, duh."
Ethan told her as he wrapped his arms tightly around his waist, bringing their bodies close just because he simply could. He kissed her forehead gently. "Hmm. Do I know what you mean?" Ethan teased again as he bent down to kiss her lips softly, letting them hover.
