The main reason why the Pirates didn't let Jesse just wander around randomly was because he had the rather frightening tendency to get lost even around school. In his pajamas. At 3 in the afternoon.
Still, though, it was lucky for him that the corridors in Northvale were about his favourite place in the world, other than being on Titanic. They were really nice and quiet and unexpectedly clean, he supposed, for a castle. There was quite a bit of dust at the more out-of-place corridors, which were where Jesse usually found himself, and he'd come up with a method of figuring out exactly how lost he was (and how likely it'd be for him to be found) by looking at the amount of dust on the windowsill. He'd never managed to find his way out of being lost without help before, though-- not even once.
That's not to say that getting lost in school wasn't fun (exploring, he'd insist to his fellow Pirates, but they all knew the truth anyway) because at least it was quiet and when he got tired, he could just cuddle up in a corner (the school was full of corners) and nap for a bit before waking up again and continuing. The only bad thing was if he missed his classes, but he thought that the Pirates probably had this tactic for searching the castle before lessons and not letting him out of their sight in between just so that he wouldn't miss any lessons. It wouldn't be good for him to get any detentions, after all.

A good way to pass the time during/while skipping class was by playing Jasper's new game. It really worked. Except for when someone found you and made you go to class. What you had to do was balance something on your head on the way to your lesson but, if it fell off, you'd have to go back to class. But there were checkpoints too, clearly, otherwise you'd never get anywhere. Today, Jasper was using his new Togepi plushie to balance on his head so he could avoid maths. The cute, little Pokemon easily fell off so that was why he was being used today - Jas really didn't want to go to maths.
When he turned the corner, Jasper spotted another guy who was lurking around in the hallways and managed to still keep Togepi balanced on his head. He grinned over at the other student and carefully waved at him. "Yo!"

Jesse had just been snuggling into yet another corner in the hallway, preparing it so that he could take another nap, when he heard someone yell out a random "yo!". "Yo"? Jesse looked around, wondering if there was anyone else in the hallway that he could possibly be talking to. After all, he didn't even know this guy! And did people still use "yo" when addressing others? It had been so long since using "yo" was popular that the meaning could have mutated or something. Maybe "yo" meant "I see you there, you skinny little twerp, and I'm going to beat you up now" or "Come with me and join my sex slave trade!". Although both of them were rather unlikely to be heard in a school-- especially the second one-- it wouldn't hurt to be cautious, right?
Then Jesse saw that there was a Togepi on the guy's head. Oh! Togepis were nice and probably wouldn't hang out with mean sex traders, so Jesse figured that this guy was probably nice, too. "Hi!" he called out, waving one hand hi in the air while still snuggling his blanket tightly. "You have a Togepi on your head! Do you like Togepi, too?"
So maybe Jesse was a little over-excited about this, but frankly, none of the Pirates liked cute things like he did. And a Togepi plushie was really high up on the list of adorable stuff. In the back of his mind, Jesse wondered where he could get one-- maybe he'd ask the guy. But then again, maybe not.

Jas was sort of envious of the guy's blanket because why couldn't he have a blanket? It would come in handy for hiding from people. He could shrink down to his teeny-weeny form and hide beneath the blanket and it would be like a massive tent thing. Or it could be a cape. Or a rope ooor... a turban. Turbans were pretty cool, Jasper thought. Then again, he already had his Togepi plushie so, really, it wasn't right of the air fae to be so jealous.
Deciding that it would be okay to take a break from his game, Jasper tipped his head forward so Togepi fell into his hands and then tucked him under his arm. Woah, and Blanket Boy recognised Togepi too! How awesome was that? "Yeah! Togepis are, like, my favourite Pokemon." Jas nodded a little over-enthusiastically.

So Togepi guy was pretty cool, Jesse guessed. After all, there weren't many people out there who would admit to liking Pokemon, much less having a favourite Pokemon. "I think Togepis are cool, but there are cuter Pokemon, like... like Celebis, or Eevees, or some of the Eeveelutions, and stuff like that!" He nodded a bit. "I tried to find a Pokemon blanket but I guess finding one with stars on it was also pretty cool. It matches my pajamas!" He grinned at Togepi guy. "I'm Jesse, a third year water fae! Who're you?"
Then Jesse noticed Togepi guy eyeing his blanket. "You can share my blanket, if you want. I can shrink down and then there'd be enough space for the both of us!" Jesse figured that might be a pretty nice thing to do. Sharing is caring and all that, right? Plus, it'd be nice to have another friend, especially one who liked to wander the hallways like he did. Togepi guy could be his corridor friend or something! He seemed pretty epic that way. "It's comfy and nice and well-loved. I might've drooled on it a bit while I sleep but usually Fin tries to get me to wash my blankets daily because I have one for every day! So it should be fine, I think?" He looked a bit at his blanket. "I think it's fine!" Then he shrunk down to his fae form and snuggled into the blanket, which suddenly seemed a whole lot bigger."Come on in!"

Adfgryjhgfdxsj. No. Togepis were just the cutest thing in the world, okay? Jasper really liked Oddishes as well though and he had to agree that Celebis and Eevees were pretty adorable too. He snuggled his 'Pi protectively nonetheless. "Shuuush, you'll hurt his feelings!" His 'Pi had many feelings that were not allowed to be damaged in any way. He was more than just a plushie to Jas, he was his baby. Still, blanket dude had agreed on 'Pi's cuteness so he was awesome in the fae's opinion. "Jasper. Fourth year air faerie. We should be ant aeroplanes together at some point because that would be really cool." he suggested, liking the idea already. Faeries were the best, simply because they were capable of being ant aeroplanes if they really wished to.
Woah, this was turning out to be Jas' lucky day; he was allowed to share Jesse's blanket! The other fae had even gone to the effort of shrinking down so there would be enough room for Jasper and Togepi too, which was incredibly kind of him. "Ooh, thanks." the air faerie exclaimed before plonking himself down on the floor and huddling under the blanket with mini-Jesse. Jasper chuckled and looked at his new friend, "It's more than fine, I think!"
