Ackley floundered, too caught off-guard to protest Mack's actions properly. "M-Mack!" he stammered, trying to get toward the counter, only to be kicked away. His boyfriend was the only person he knew that could simultaneously be the sweetest guy in the word and also a huge dick. He watched red-faced while the clerk swiped Mack's credit card and handed it back. "Y-you didn't - I-I w-was gonna-!" he insisted, expression caught somewhere between distress and amusement.
But the deed was done, it seemed, as the clerk had already passed the receipt over. Ackley scowled at Mack for a moment. He waited until they were on their way out of the store to say anything. "Thanks, but...I-I could have paid for it, Mack..." he mumbled, leaning his shoulder against his boyfriend's while they walked.

Mack had won. He was now smiling victoriously as his boyfriend was pouting slightly and being the cutest thing in the entire world. He took the receipt with a smile toward the clerk and started walking out with Ackley. He looked over at Lee, giving him a genuine smile. "I know you could have. But I could too. And I want to do things like that for you. You won't let me half the time, so I have to sneak it."
Mack told him. He had been a bit hurt at first when Ackley wouldn't let Mack buy him things... he knew it was just Ackley, but Mack would love to buy Ackley anything he possibly wanted. "Now that we're here... is there anything else you need? Or... maybe even want? Please?" Mack asked him and gave him his best puppy dog look. How had he ended up with someone like this? Someone that made him flustered and embarrassed and yet entirely comfortable all at the same time. If someone had told him back that first time the two of them met that this was the person hiding underneath that idiot playboy routine, he would have thought they were crazy. And here he was.
"M-Mack, I don't..." he glanced around, trying and failing to look exasperated. Ackley had this little smirk on his lips, though, that he couldn't quite shake. "You know me...I-I don't n-need stuff." He shrugged. He'd grown up without much. Even now he was at school, he felt guilty for buying things. That was money he could be sending home.
Instead of arguing more (because that look Mack was giving him was totally not fair), he tried for distraction and wrapped his arms around Mack's shoulders. "But you know what I do need..." he murmured, raising an eyebrow suggestively.

Mack wanted to sigh because everyone needed something. "Fine. Not need. Want."
Mack was trying to get Lee to say something so he could go off and buy it. Mack wouldn't care if Ackley wanted a new phone or a macbook air or an ipod. He would get it for him. He would do anything for his boyfriend. When Ackley wrapped his arm around Mack's shoulder, Mack slipped his own arm around Ackley's waist. He'd given up a long time ago trying to be the dominent one and putting his arm around Ackley's shoulder. He was just too tall for that. When he saw the suggestive eyebrow wave... well. Mack was weak. "Ackleyyy. We're in the shopping center! Plus you're just trying to distract me." [/blockquote] Outfit ------------------------ ClickyNotes ------------------------ --- Tagged ------------------------ Ackleyyyyy Song ------------------------ Heart of a Girl – Killers

Ackley grinned at Mack and leaned down to kiss just under his jaw. "Only w-want you," he insisted, half teasing. Just because his boyfriend knew this was a distraction didn't mean he wasn't being distracted. "Well, yeah," he admitted, "but i-it's working isn't it?"
They were getting a stare or two, but Ackley had actually gotten used to that, for Mack's sake. It was easier to just ignore it, pretend they were invisible, on their own plane of reality. "C'mon," he insisted, rubbing the tips of their noses together. "We c-could go out to y-your car..." Which he was fully aware was generally an awful idea because Ackley was just too big for decent car sex, and they both inevitably ended up with bumps on their heads and cricks in their necks and bruises in very strange places. He snickered, thinking about the last time they'd tried, giving himself away.
"W-wait. No. Bad idea. I-I don't know, Mack...I d-don't know what people b-buy."

Ackley wasn't making this a fair fight. He knew Mack's weakness was sex, so why did he have to tease this. It was just a horrible tactic. Mack whined at his boyfriend. Now he wanted sex. No... he wanted Ackley to pick something he wanted and get it. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Focusing on the task at hand. "You know I want sex now... but this is how adamant I am about this. I'm not leaving until my credit card is at least 20 more dollars in the hole and that is not negotiable!"
Mack told him as he wiggled his way out of Ackley's grasp and teased as he walked backwards. "There has to be something you've always wanted, but couldn't have." [/blockquote] Outfit ------------------------ ClickyNotes ------------------------ --- Tagged ------------------------ Ackleyyyyy Song ------------------------ Heart of a Girl – Killers

It was strange thinking about how, to Mack, twenty dollars might as well have been two, while for Ackley it might as well have been two hundred. As a kid, it was always about needs, never wants. It didn't matter if every other kid in school had some cool new toy. That just wasn't an option for them. Sure, at Christmas their father always tried to save up for good presents. He got Ackley a bike when he was ten, a guitar when he was thirteen. For Christmas Margaret's senior year, he bought her the prom dress she wanted. But things like that were special, for special occasions, not just to buy whenever you felt like it.
Ackley stared at their joined hands and frowned in thought, trying to think back to life with his family, before he got bit. He'd been so accustomed then to not wanting things, because he couldn't. But then something came to mind, his eyes going wide in realization. "There...there was something..." he admitted. "But i-it's gonna sound stupid..." He laughed at himself and put his free hand over his face before looking up at Mack uncertainly.
"O-okay, so...when I w-was a kid, e-everyone in school, they had..." He blushed. "Um, Gameboys. Everyone had a Gameboy." He looked away, laughing at himself again. "Sorry, it's just- it's all I c-could think of."

That right there was the reason Mack had been so adamant about getting Ackley something. Because the look on his face, plus the item of what he wanted said it all. He had wanted a gameboy when he was little... no doubt because all the other kids were running around with them. He could never have one though because it would of been too much. Mack didn't understand that. Mack was given his own credit card at a... rather young age. He thought it was a 16th birthday present. But before that.. his parents would give him theirs so different reasons. Go buy your sister this. Go buy your sister that. Go grocery shopping for the house. You did good babysitting this week, go treat yourself to something.
His dad was a famous sports writer that got to travel the world to write about different sports and his mother was a school teacher. His mom never spent a dime and yet still had the money coming in. Mack was lucky in the aspect of money when it came to his childhood... but he never got the family thing. Mack went back over to Ackley and wrapped his arms around his neck, a little tough, but he did it. "If you want a gameboy, then a gameboy is what you're going to get."

Ducking down to make it easier for Mack to reach him, Ackley leaned in and pressed a quick kiss to the corner of his mouth. Somehow it made him feel better that what Mack was getting him wasn't something he needed - or even really wanted in the present tense. It was really for the sole purpose of making his boyfriend feel better about how different they'd grown up.
That wasn't to say that he wouldn't play that thing til his thumbs dislocated.
Ackley pulled back and grinned. "Did a-anyone ever tell you th-that you're the sweetest?" he said lightly. "A-alright. Where does one, um, buy a-a Gameboy?" He glanced around the mall.

Where did they get a gameboy? That was a good question. An electronic store would probably be the best. Mack turned around to look at the stores while still staying with Ackley. Mack reached back while he looked and hooked his arms around Ackley's neck. Something he almost couldn't even reach. He saw a few shops. Some random that wouldn't have electronics and others that might have some electronics, but probably not a gameboy.
Then finally he laid his eyes on a gamestop. A perfect place. They had tons of different games and gaming systems. Gameboy's were old... but they should have the latest model at least. "There!"
Mack practically yelled from his excitement as he pulled away from Ackley but grabbed his hand to drag him into the store.
