Brent didn't hate Chase? He... found it hard to believe for some reason. Maybe because it was one of those things that was just programmed into his brain to think. That everyone hated him, that everyone wanted to hurt him. That he was no good. That he basically deserved to die. Yet Brent said it was impossible? Chase didn't understand him, and maybe that was part of his attraction. Chase didn't know what to do right now, so he just stayed put. Sneaking glances at Brent when he didn't know what else to do and otherwise just looking at his hands because that was less awkward.

Brent was itching to say something in order to break the painfully awkward silence in the room. But he couldn't because he was angry and so he was telling himself that was an acceptable reason for remaining quiet. It would be easy for him to say something, anything but, as per usual, the man's stubbornness was getting in the way.

Steadfastly, he stared straight ahead at the wall. Walls were interesting. Walls didn't piss him off. Still, he couldn't help but avert his gaze to Chase briefly, catching the fae's eyes on him. Brent let out a sigh-ish growl noise. There was no way that he was speaking first.

Should Chase say something? He wasn't even sure because it was incredibly awkward in the room at the moment and he wanted to just leave. He didn't know what to say or do or anything and it was just ughhh. He shouldn't have tried to do anything. He should have just left everything be. He closed his eyes briefly before jumping down from the desk and looking at Brent even though he didn't want to. "I get it. I'm sorry. I'll just leave... I'm sorry for messing things up."

The hybrid didn't really want Chase to leave when everything still didn't seem to be sorted out but that wasn't going to happen when Brent was in a mood like this and needed time to brood, burn things and drink. He'd had enough of trying to stay calm and cope in such an awkwardly tense situation. "Okay." Brent said, his voice barely audible. He didn't even look at the fae, his eyes fixed on the wall again. Brent regretted not stopping Chase or telling him that things were alright and he knew it wasn't the right thing to do but... he felt it was the only option currently available to him.

Chase had been kind of hoping Brent was going to stop him instead of just saying okay... but that didn't happen, so Chase had no choice but to just leave. He glanced back at Brent, hoping he would change his mind... but ending up turning back so Brent wouldn't be able to see him cry as he pushed himself out of the classroom, sprinting as soon as he knew Brent couldn't see him all the way till he got to his room, climbed under the blanket, and convinced himself he was never going to move. He had a chance at being happy, and he had to ruin it.
