It was unlikely that Dan would ever actually tell anyone why he liked coming down to the farm. He didn't know what people thought, but the truth was that the run-down farm was an excellent place to write poetry. Admittedly, there wasn't many nineteen-year-old werewolf poets, but Dan found that it helped him to get his emotions down on paper. It calmed him down, most of the time. And the fact that this place was basically always empty and filled with nature to inspire him made it all the better.
So, the teen wandered around for a while, looking for a good place to sit down. There were so many pretty-looking places to choose from that Daniel really wasn't sure, but in the end he decided to sit by a bunch of pretty-looking flowers in a little patch of sunlight. There was a little blue-and-white butterfly perched on one of the flowers, which wasn't a species the werewolf thought he'd seen before- and he'd seen a lot of butterflies. Well, there you go; you saw new things every day. That was the expression, right?

Daniel was having a nice time looking at the unique little insect, when it suddenly decided to fly off the plant it was settled on. In any ordinary case, a butterfly flying away would have been sort of normal, apart from the fact that this one didn't fly away. It just sort of... flapped there in his face. And then it talked, which, needless to say, Dan didn't take too well.
As he was sort of busy panicking about the fact that he was hearing butterflies, what it actually said wasn't actually heard by the teen. Daniel scooted backwards, trying to get the little bug out of his face. God, he'd been through some bad things in his life, but hearing insects talk to him was a new one. "Uh... what?" Dan knew it wasn't healthy to reply to a butterfly- it was a butterfly, after all- but it seemed rude to ignore it altogether.
Dan knew that he wasn't exactly quite right in the head, but he doubted that even he would be able to make bugs talk. On closer inspection, the butterfly wasn't a butterfly at all. That was a bit confusing. No, the winged thing was actually a little man-well, boy. He had ordinary clothes on, even had a little hat... just had wings as well. And was really little. Obviously.
While the werewolf knew it was rude to stare, he couldn't help it. He'd never really seen butterfly-boys anywhere before. And he was sort of cute, in a little butterfly-y way. And he seemed sort of bashful. Brilliant, he'd found a shy butterfly-guy. Curious- and fighting the urge to poke the little guy- Dan continued staring, despite the fact he did have manners. "Er, what... who.. are you?"

Well, this little dude didn't seem that amazed that Dan was flapping around everywhere because of talking butterfly-guys. Which was probably a good thing. "Wait, you're a faerie?" Dan was taken aback. He hadn't really thought about faeries, but... that would make sense, really.
Watching the other guy's face frown in confusion, Daniel felt a bit awkward- his reaction had been a bit overboard. "No, can't say I have." Feeling like this deserved further explanation- maybe it would make him seem a bit less weird- Dan smiled briefly. "I'm new around here."
Dan wasn't quite sure what to say next, but an introduction seemed logical. After all, Jasper had told him his name, and it would be rude not to return the favour. "I'm Dan, and... werewolf, in case you were... you know... wondering." Tilting his head to the side, the teen wondered whether he could get any worse at communication that day.

Jasper nodded. "Yuh-huh, faerie, thas me!" he confirmed, raising his voice in order to be heard because he only had teeny-weeny vocal chords right now and he was quite a distance from the other dude's ears. Therefore, he was going to have some difficulty trying to understand what Jas was saying. That was hard enough already even when you could hear the fourth year properly.
He felt special. Not in the 'omg whut a retard' way, in the 'WOAH I AM THE FIRST FAERIE HE'S EVER SEEN' way. "Thought sooo~" Jasper laughed. He was maybe secretly celebrating in his head because he'd been right about the newbie thing. D'aw, and his sentences were all funny! It was kind of cute. Was that meant to be cute? Jasper didn't know but, meh, because it was. "Nice tah meet you, Dan the Werewolf." The fae ended up giggling in reply. He wasn't fazed by Dan's awkwardness; he found it amusing, in the nicest way possible.

Okay, so Jasper was definitely a faerie. That was a new one, but not that surprising. Dan could probably have worked that out, had he wanted to really use brain power. Being little -and hyper or whatever- seemed to have an effect on the little guy's voice; it was very high-pitched. Then again, maybe he just spoke like that at any time. Either way, his laugh sounded really adorable, all high-pitched like that. The giggle was contagious, but Dan didn't feel quite mentally prepared to laugh yet, so a brief smile would have to suffice at that moment. "Nice to meet you too, Jasper the... uh... faerie." The teen wasn't sure why his speech wasn't quite working that day, but it wasn't. Something to do with meeting his first faerie, probably. Who happened to be cute, not that that was relevant.
Yeah, Daniel definitely had something wrong with his speech today. He was tongue-tied. It wasn't exactly a speech impediment, the words just weren't there for him to say. All the young werewolf could do was wait for sentences to form in his head and hope that the faerie didn't find it too annoying. Jasper actually seemed alright and Daniel didn't want to make an enemy of him by being a massive nuisance. "So... come here often, then?" That was Dan: always being able to start a conversation. He was amazing at breaking the ice.

When Jasper landed on his knee... it was really cute. In fact it was so cute that Daniel smiled yet again which meant he'd smiled twice in like... thirty seconds which A)was a new record and B)was probably sort of creepy as he basically didn't know who this guy was, yet here he was grinning at him like a complete idiot.
Jasper's answer to Dan's very intellectual question was sort of complicated, and the young werewolf didn't quite know how to respond. In the end, he decided on very intelligent "Oh. Er, okay." The elder teen's conversational skills were completely worn out now, so he sat there in silence, trying his best not to stare at the faerie on his knee and hoping that the younger boy would say something.
